RUGER 10/22 MAGS..........HELP!

Yes I know that the 10/22 10 round mags are the best. My question is, Where can I get a 15, 20 or 30 round mag? I would like to have one or two high cap mags for this rifle. Just to raise my level of fun. Also are the mags going to run me in excess of $80.00 like the ones that I saw at the most recent gunshow I went to? To me that is a bit ridiculous for that price.

Thanks in advance,
Sgt. Smitty

Good news and bad news:

Yes, 25 and 30 round mags can be found.
Yes, some actually work
Yes, they now cost about $75 and up.

Most of the Ruger large-capacity mags were made of plastic and as such are slowly reducing in number available (plastic is easier to break than metal). If you do find them, I strongly recommend getting *only* Butler Creek mags. I had one Ram-Line and was hard to load but fed fine. Best of luck.

Butler Creek Hot Lip mags are really nice 10/22 mags.... Too bad, they dont cost ummmm 5 bucks a piece anymore :(

I am dying to find a 50 round mag that doesn't cost in excess of $100.

I bought a metal lip Butler Creek in a gunshop in Montreal last year. Wound up giving it away to a Canadian friend though.

Wow !!! That much for the 50 rounders ?? Guess I better keep the 2 I have and also the smaller (25 or 30) one I have. Haven't used them much and just found(relocated !) 2 of them. In all reality ... they are OK but find them in the way if carrying the 10-22. Normally keep the 50 in a pocket until I get into serious "plinking".Have 4-5 OEM 10's.
That's my $0.02 worth

Butler Creek Steel Lips

My 2 cents worth leads me to the Butler Creek Steel lips magazine. You can get these fairly cheap and they last forever. Just get two of these and one of Butler Creek's hot-lips loaders and you're set. For high capacity, BC Hot-Lips magazines are superior. The max capacity is 25 rounds as I remember. I've got four of the pre-ban 50 rounders and three of the 30 rounders that keep me happy. These are all Ram-Line and have all been 100% reliable. The Ram-Line magazine loader I got for them has broken and is now virtually useless. Good luck.

Gent's I have 3 of these, I will part with at a lot less than the prices you are quoting.......I want to sell ALL 3 at the same time.
E mail me if interested..and make sure you are legal to purchase in your state......BEfore e mailing...

Try these guys: http://www.rugermags.com They still have Butler creek 25 rd Hot Lip Mags for $34.95.Thats way below what I've seen them going for.I've tried all the aftermarket 10-22 mags, and trust me,the Butler creek hot lips are by far the best.

jnixp, thanks for the reference. Are those guys honest? (Cheap mag's can get pretty expensive if the deal goes south ...)

And, Badger, my personal opinion is that the so-called Assault Weapons ban will sunset when the sun goes super nova. ;)

I can not confirm, but the guy from rugermags.com is supposedly from Canada and some mags may have dates and other markings buffed off.

Jim, I note the URL is from AL, but his email to me indicates Canada as well. [Note, whois, per Network Solutions: Organization:

And, if the mag's show evidence of data being buffed off, then I would have concerns that data used to indicate LEO only and / or dates after the mag ban date.

To cut to the chase, it sounds as though these mag's may present potential legal problems. Do you concur?

Thanks. Regards from AZ

Butler Creek "Hot Lips'.

Gent's, the ones I have are NOT steel lipped...they are a 2 piece polymer lip on each side....but they are in the package, and are called "HOT LIPS".
Butler Creek 25/22's
Are they any good???...........
These are new, and I have never used any like them, how well do they hold up.......seems like for 22 RF, they would be good to go for a long while......your experiences welcomed????

hey guys i found a butler creek 25 round magazine in the trash. the guy who threw it aways was shooting a tec-22. the thing was jamming every two rounds so he tossed the mag in the bin and left. so i grab the magazine for my 10/22. it works just fine

Poor Americans+. I may have every other crappy gun law to deal with, but we still have no restrictions on hi-cap .22 rifle mags here in Kanada. Steel lips-$21 USD and Hot Lips $15 USD here at the local stores. Come up for a visit! But don't forget your $50 "import tax" for each gun you wanna bring up!
