That does appear very similar to the Saudi national symbol/crest. I found a reference in the Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson where SW made some Model 49s (Bodyguard--shrouded .38) with the Saudi crest in 1991. http://books.google.com/books?id=D8...onepage&q=S&W 49-2 Saudi Arabia Crest&f=false

I have exactly the same revolver, but I doubt its "Rossi" pedigree. In the photos, the "A Rossi" seems not to be factory engraving, and it is absent on mine. I have been trying to get more information on mine and on the 'Net came across a photo of the gun when I did a search on "Saudi Firearms Revolvers". One was on auction as a "very rare" Saudi Bodyguard, and plus or minus two hundred and seventy five pounds sterling. Mine has a tight lock-up, a nice double action trigger pull and a good sight picture - and though oversize, the grips make it a pleasure to shoot.

That seems to be a Rossi 87.
