Robinson AK-47

I just got one of the new Robinson AK-47's in 7.62x39. They also come in 308 and 223. In any event, this is one very nice rifle at a very reasonable price. They are shown on Robinson's web page.

Details

Please give us some details. Fit, finish, function,etc..
What was your cost?
Most importantly, I'd like to hear a detailed range report. What's the accuracy like?

I emailed Alex Robinson, and he quoted $599 for the Super VEPR in 308. Not sure what the 7.62X39 would go for, but I'm sure he could tell you.

These are the absolute best AK types you can get. Period.
Alex imports them straight from Moscow or so he says. The one I examined at his little shop was fantastic.
I'm still waiting for an M96 Carbine in .308... but one in 7.62X39 would rock too.

I spoke with Alex Robinson once briefly. (Really nice guy by the way).

He said that they are doing something special to the triggers on these new Veprs so that they will have the best trigger of any AK ever.

I wouldn't mind having one myself, especially with 7.62x39 so cheap, this way you could shoot it in style. :)

Great rifles

The receivers on these variants are 100% pure, authentic, unadultarated Russian RPK light machine gun receivers. They are 1.5mm thick and built to last. There is not a stouter receiver out there that is not milled. Some people complain that Robarms should not have cut the receiver but I find it to be only slightly irratating. The stocks on the II are about as pretty as black plastic gets and the finish on the metal is beautiful. I hope they make a mod in the future so the .308 will accept FAL mags.

Well, I finally got my VEPR II in .223 yesterday, and let me say WOW....This is without a doubt, the best looking AK I have ever seen. It even looks way better than my SLR-95(and that is a fine AK). The finish is superb. I mean absolutely fabulous. Very well put together rifle. All of the tolerances are tight and smooth. The action of the bolt is very SMOOTH and consistaint. The only bad thing, and it's not really bad at all, is that the trigger pull is a little long, but that too is very smooth and fluid. I am extremely happy with this gun. For just under 500.00, you can't buy a better AK.

The dealer cost is 469.00 for the .223 and 7.62x39. The .308 is a little more

Now the Progressive Bulgie Waffle Mag test. First let me say the mags fit nicely into this AK. They lock up tight and feel good. I took one of the 30rd Bulgie Waffle Mags that I got from Progressive, Loaded it up and inserted it into the rifle. I then cycle the bolt back and forth as if it were being fired. The rounds fed and ejected smoothly with no hick-ups. I did this a second time and slowed down the cycle speed and only once did a round fail to eject and load. As I said, I slow the cycle speed WAY down...so I don't think there will be any problems using these mags in live fire. These mags will work fine during actual firing, I'm sure. Will go fire later on this week and will post.

As I said, they are about the best quality AK I have seen. Great finish, fit and very smooth action. Came with one 30 rd mag, a lock, cleaning kit(typical AK tube kit) and an oil bottle in the original Russian box from the factory...Comes with the scope rail mounted

Even though I have not fired it yet, I am very happy with this rifle. If it shoots 1/2 as good as it looks, I'll have the best AK I have ever owned........

Here are some picks with my MTK-75 mount and scope

That's correct there "Rock". She is a little nose heavy but not too much so. The barrel is a semi-bull design so the accuracy is pretty good. I'm hoping to get out this weekend to fire. The ROBARMS guys were getting consistant 1-sub 1 inch MOA's with the .223

I am very happy with this puppy...

How do I order one of these? Does Robarms sell them direct, or only through retailers? I emailed Robarms a message this week but have yet to hear back from them.

I know a local FFL who will only charge a small fee for a transfer. I don't want ask him for the transfer if he can order one (i.e., if it would be something he can normally order from one of his distributors.

You should be able to order directly from Robarms, which is the way it should be. No middleman markup and no sales tax.
