Well, I finally got my VEPR II in .223 yesterday, and let me say WOW....This is without a doubt, the best looking AK I have ever seen. It even looks way better than my SLR-95(and that is a fine AK). The finish is superb. I mean absolutely fabulous. Very well put together rifle. All of the tolerances are tight and smooth. The action of the bolt is very SMOOTH and consistaint. The only bad thing, and it's not really bad at all, is that the trigger pull is a little long, but that too is very smooth and fluid. I am extremely happy with this gun. For just under 500.00, you can't buy a better AK.
The dealer cost is 469.00 for the .223 and 7.62x39. The .308 is a little more
Now the Progressive Bulgie Waffle Mag test. First let me say the mags fit nicely into this AK. They lock up tight and feel good. I took one of the 30rd Bulgie Waffle Mags that I got from Progressive, Loaded it up and inserted it into the rifle. I then cycle the bolt back and forth as if it were being fired. The rounds fed and ejected smoothly with no hick-ups. I did this a second time and slowed down the cycle speed and only once did a round fail to eject and load. As I said, I slow the cycle speed WAY down...so I don't think there will be any problems using these mags in live fire. These mags will work fine during actual firing, I'm sure. Will go fire later on this week and will post.
As I said, they are about the best quality AK I have seen. Great finish, fit and very smooth action. Came with one 30 rd mag, a lock, cleaning kit(typical AK tube kit) and an oil bottle in the original Russian box from the factory...Comes with the scope rail mounted
Even though I have not fired it yet, I am very happy with this rifle. If it shoots 1/2 as good as it looks, I'll have the best AK I have ever owned........
Here are some picks with my MTK-75 mount and scope
