Rifle that is not made but you think they should?

A semi-auto in 45-70 or higher-power BP cartridge (not a fancy modern rimless SOCOM or whatever)
A pump-rifle in 45-70, specifically (I couldn't believe there hasn't been one...)

Coyota,

I hunt in Western PA where we alternate between stand and drive hunting in hilly woods. A light rifle with a short barrel fits the bill. It has also rained my last couple outings, so stainless and synthetic is the way to go.

Yes Joe Chicago, that was just a joke. But while we are on the subject, I have used my wood stocked rifles with blued barrels and actions in the rain, and I just let them dry and wipe them down. No rust, and the finish is the same as it was, and I live in Michigan.

-.44mag semi-auto rifle
-Ruger Super Blackhawk in .500S&W
-lever action .500S&W
-AR in .270 winchester
-.454 semi-auto pistol

I have always felt that a Savage model 24 style over and under chambered in 22lr over a 308 Win. would make the ideal backwoods knockabout rifle or longtime wilderness survival rifle. A 22lr for small game daily nurishment, and the 308 for big game hunting to 300 yards.

A Ruger pump action carbine, wood and blue, stainless and synth., 18" bbl., chambered in calibers that are suitable for North American big game.

You remove the stock and check the bottom of the barrel? Bluing is not a rust preventative. It just looks pretty.

Oh contrare. The hot bluing process is a form of controlled iron oxide, and it does protect. Not as good as stainless, but it is a protective finish. I do take the action out occasionally and every time I get it wet, and no rust.

For me 2 things:

1) Marlin style camp carbine using Glock mags (not pretty but available, relatively inexpensive and reliable)

2) Take down Mauser 98 actioned series of rifles (not H&H...)

ATB,

Oh, I can think of a few!

- H&K MP7 clone in 17HMR - it would pretty much be a legal version of the MP7 with a legal ammunition and roughly the same performance. That would be neat. :D

- A modern 45-70 semi automatic rifle with a 20 round magazine in a bullpup design that works with really heavy bullet weights like 500 grains and up (Yes its a rimmed round but the SVT-40 in 7.62x54r works just fine too)
.500S&W would work too.

- Glock in 7.62x25

- Beefed up heavy barrel Steyr AUG in .308 that takes AR10 mags

A .17 would be roughly the performance as the 4.6? Hmm...

A semi auto rifle...with a pistol grip, flash hider, bayonet lug, collapsable or folding stock, and a 15 round FIXED mag that could be fed quickly with stripper clips.

Should of added "Isn't on the banned assualt weapons list in NJ" :( M1 carbines in any configuration are illegal.

But don't they have removeable mags? Having a fixed mag is the only way past NJ's regulations
