Rifle - Handgun combinations,,,

I have a friend who allows me access to his fields for walks-hunts,,,
What I mean is that he lets me come out there at dawn,,,
And walk his property looking for the random bunny.

On the rare occasion I actually pop one,,,
It gets skinned and fed to his dogs.

When I go I always take a .22 rifle and a .22 handgun,,,
I have my guns paired up by their aesthetics.

When I take my Mossberg 702 Plinkster,,,
I always pair it with my Naomi, my 4.5" slab-side Ruger 22/45.

When I take my H&R Sportster rifle,,,
I always pair it up with my Rowena, my 6" Colt Trooper Mk-III.

When I take my Henry Accubolt rifle,,,
I always take Lucille, my alloy framed Colt Frontier Scout.

Even though it's overkill for the wee bunnies,,,
One time I took my H&R Handi-Rifle in .357 Magnum,,,
And paired it with Raquel, my 4" Colt Trooper Mk-III in .357 Magnum.

For whatever reason I think these handguns pair up very well,,,
In their aesthetics, function, and performance they seem to fit together.

I was wondering if anyone else pairs their rifles and handguns,,,
If you do, why not post a pic or two for our enjoyment,,,
I'll take pics of the pairs tonight and post tomorrow.

I wish I owned enough firearms that I could have pairings. That said, I do like the way my Mossberg 500 and my Glock 19 look and work together. I would also love to get a lever action rifle to match my Ruger Blackhawk in .357.

Only when pleasure shooting. I will slip the .22 conversion on one of my 1911s and take some .22 rifles with it.

My son has a Marlin Camp carbine in 9mm. It is an outstanding little carbine. He is looking for a S&W which uses the same mag.

I just bought a 94 in 44 mag. I think I need a Single action 44 mag. Any suggestions.

Camera battery was dead,,,

I was gonna take pics last night,,,
But I had forgotten to charge the camera battery.

This is Raquel, my Colt Trooper .357 Mag,,,

I pair her with the H&R Handi-Rifle on the top of the next picture.

This is Rowena, my Colt Trooper in .22 LR,,,

I pair her with the H&R Sportster on the bottom of the previous picture.

I DO but NOT the way you do. I see no reason to carry a 22 rifle and a 22 pistol also. They BOTH do the same thing and there is no reason to that.
With a 22 rifle I carry a 44 or 45 caliber sixgun.
With a medium to big bore rifle in my hands I will carry a 22 [ sometimes a 32 ] revolver.
IF there is only one it'll be a 45 autoloading pistol or a 45COLT sixgun.

I think my only real pairing would be my Mossberg 500 with either my 1911 or my gp100. I'd love to purchase a 45-70 lever sometime in the future with the revo and at some point a bolt rifle to match up with my tokarev.

I have a few..........

My competition .22's, but they also go afield for squirrels and such at times........

My lever/SA combos for hunting. Rossi .45 Colt and Marlin .357 with matching Blackhawks.

Some others frequently paired combinations that I don't have pictures of would be the 77/22 .22LR with the 4" SP101 .22LR (squirrels and such), the M77MKII All Weather stainless in either .308 or .30-06 with a 3" stainless GP100 (harsh weather hunting).

oooooh,,, pretty things,,,,,

Hello sigcurious:

Nice pairing,,,
Ruger and Ruger. :)

Hello ltc444:

That Camp Carbine and a S&W will make a great pairing,,,
I hope your son finds that pistol soon.

The obvious choice to pair with your Model 94 would be a Ruger Blackhawk,,,
But one of their Vaquero models would also be a nice choice.

Hello rantingredneck:

Thanks for posting pics,,,
I especially liked the second image.

Hello Wil Terry,,,

I do tend to go the one cartridge for both guns route.

When I'm on one of my morning walks,,,
If I do spot a bunny and it's close enough to me,,,
I'll try to make the shot with the handgun to test my skill.

But I see your point as well,,,
There isn't any rule about pairings,,,
It's all about what makes sense and pleases you.

Camp 9 and S&W 459, Camp 45 and 1911, Marlin 1894 in .44 mag and (pick one) Ruger SRH/S&W 629, 10/22 and Ruger Mk. II. I should probably get a lever gun in .357 to go with one of the .357 wheel guns... and maybe a 5.56 pistol while I'm at it (I wish...)

The Camp Carbines share ammo and magazines with their paired handguns.

Itc44 the mags your son needs is from a 5906 SW I know I got both as for the SA revolver the Super Blackhawk
My son has a Marlin Camp carbine in 9mm. It is an outstanding little carbine. He is looking for a S&W which uses the same mag.

I may be mistaken, but aren't all 59 series pistols double stack? I thought that the mags from any of them would work in the Camp 9. I can tell you for a fact that my 459 mags fit... Maybe I'll have to get a new pistol just to check it out.

I love my suite of 9mms... Ruger PC9, Sig P229, and Kahr CW9.

Mags are not interchangeable, but ammo certainly is versatile.

Sparks, we are talking about the interchangability of mags between S&W 59 series pistols and the Marlin Camp 9. The Camp 45 uses 7 round single stack 1911 mags. These carbines were designed like that on purpose...

When I take my H&R Sportster rifle,,,
I always pair it up with my Rowena, my 6" Colt Trooper Mk-III
You know, you really need and H&R revolver instead of the Colt.
They (H&R revolvers) aren't as bad as their "JC Higgens" reputaion...
The break top has a loyal following.
I have one of the convertible - .22lr/.22mag.
Sweet little S/A trigger on it.

I understood that, daddycat. Hence the second sentence. Someday I'll pick up a P95 to go with the PC9, maybe.

Saw one the other day in good condition at my LGS, in fact. Too many guns, not enough time or money. ;)

Actually most of the posts in this thread don't address long arms/handguns that use the same mags... So I don't think I'm off-topic
