RIA 1911s= Junk?

The Philippines actually made pistols for the US Army when 1911s were the issued sidearm. Never exclusively, and not always, but they made many a specimen for us.

legally armed america (a channel on YouTube, without the spaces) did a series of torture tests on a rock island tactical 1911. I will post a link to the last video which briefly describes everything it has been through. I am not affiliated at all with said YouTube channel and am sharing the link for educational purposes related to this thread

My tote around and scratched up 1911 is a High Standard compact although it ain't a Rock Island it's made by the same company as the RIA .

That company would be Armscor, which has a huge state of the art facility on Luzon and manufacture several other "name" brand 1911s for the American market.

No such thing as a "Junk" 1911, unless it was found in the salty ocean over the years!

I bought one in 1974 that had been buried in someone's back yard for 6 years in Miami, FL. It would definitely qualify as "junk" except for the fact that, after an acid bath and replacement of the grips, all springs and the mag, it still shoots to this day.:D

I have had several and they are pretty good for the money if you want to buy a new gun. The one I have left is a smaller one. I keep it around to let somebody shoot it if they want to try a small 1911.

You are going to have to show me something on that.
I doubt they did.

I've put about 1500 rounds
through mine not a single problem. I did have adjustable sights put on it poa to poi was real low with the adjustable sights it has been a very accurate gun and cant beat the price

I have a Citadel 9 mm 1911, same same RIA. I really like it but it ain't no Colt.
I bought it at Bud's for 329.00 a couple years ago and it is worth every penny. I did a mild trigger job and changed a couple things on it but it actually worked right out of the box. I have 2000 plus rounds thru it and recently the ejector broke. I called Citadel, none in stock but I could call back later and maybe they'd have one. Then tried the warranty number and emailed them, no response( 6 weeks ago). I bought one and installed it.
Bottom line it's worth what I paid for it, maybe more to me. BUT it ain't a Colt.
