revolvers for LEO's?

I will admit, it might be easier to train
a new shooter to be safe and competent in gun handling with a revolver, but it is easier
to get them "qualified" with a Glock. And, unfortunately qualifying is the bottom line.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
The termn "qualified" is VERY subjective and considering the constant lowering of standards to get there it says something about what is on the street. On a 4,000+ man dept recently the range officer said 50% of the new recruit class FAILED with their Glock 19's to "qualify" AFTER they finished their "training." so you know what they did? Put them on the street and said, "worry about it later."
Putting a cop on the street with such lowered standards is almost a crime and to thank a Glock for making this possible says something. And it ain't good kids.

Pluspinc,

Blame the message, not the messenger. An idiot with a revolver is just as dangerous as an idiot with a Glock. The issue is training not equipment.

Ankeny,

I'm with your friend. When I go off duty the bavarian squirt gun goes in the gun locker and I put on my 1911.

I'd be all for cops with revolvers, as long as they were converted to DAO.
I wouldn't want most of the cops out there to hold me at gunpoint with a cocked revolver. (Not like I want to be under any gun, but least of all a SA gun held by a nervous officer.)
The risk of an AD/ND is much higher once the trigger weight is down to 2.5-3 pounds.

Personally, if I was a cop, I'd go with a M686Plus.
Seven rounds of .357 Mag 125gr JHP's are nothing to laugh about.
I wouldn't feel undergunned at all with this setup.
FWIW, -Kframe

If you have a revolver with a trigger pull of 3 lbs you are carrying a bomb, not a revolver. Imagine what the single action would be like.

Darrel, I was talking about the SA pull being 3lbs.

Just don't want anyone thinking I've got a revolver with a DA pull of 3 pounds.
That would certainly be scary.
