Remington....what happened to them?

Remington's quality has declined since Freedom Group/Cerberus bought them. I had to send two new Remington rifles back to the factory last year. Look at Weatherby Vanguard S2s, FN/'Winchester' M70s, Tikkas and Savages instead.

In the last four years, I have known people to send Weatherbys, Winchesters, Tikkas, Sakos, and Blasers back for warranty service. None of my acquaintences have had to send a Savage back. Your anecdotal experience has no bearing on the state of Remington's quality.

BTW, Cerberus has put Freedom Group up for sale.

they got bought out by cheap businessmen, that's what happened. however I must agree, the BDL is still the midgrade/semi deluxe package 700. the ADL is still the cheap economy model but apparently is only available from big box stores like walmart or dicks. the SPS is the black plastic wonder and I do not like them simply because of the gritty black stuff they cover the bolts with, it's like the same stuff used to make chalk boards. the BDL still has the ornate walnut stocks though they still do not match the quality of a nice 80s BDL.

if you saw a BDL with a synthetic stock then it was most likely not a factory option and was done by somebody else after leaving remington.
here is remingtons page on the 700, every single BDL and CDL has a wood stock, other option like the SPS, sendero and XCR, have synthetic stocks.
