Remington R1 Stainless --- under $500 out the door!?

*Sigh*

I don't need any more... Not sure I even want anymore.

I was looking at an add in the paper and one of our local big sporting goods stores is having a Memorial Day sale on some firearms, two of which are pistols that I may be interested in buying.

Remington R1 1911 for $399 after the mail in rebate. That's about $438 out the door after tax and the new Colorado $7 background check fee.

Remington R1 1911 Stainless for $449 after the mail in rebate. That's about $492 after tax and the new Colorado $7 background check fee.

This appears to be an awesome price on what I've heard is a good solid pistol.

I have 2 problems...

#1... I don't have a Stainless 1911

#2... While I have the money, I really have no business spending $500 on something I don't need... at this time.

I honestly am not sure what I will do... I know many of you will say it's a great deal (is it?) and to go for it, while others will say I should be smart with my money and to not waist it on something I don't need. But I'd like to hear it anyway.

As usual, all opinions on my personal choices, and opinions of the guns in question as well as the prices I could get them for are welcome.:D

You should be smart with your money and not waste it on something you don't need. Feel better? ;)

Seriously, think about what is on your "need" list and how much sooner could you get it if you don't get this one.

I just bought one myself a few days ago. It is the Remington R1S. It is a well made gun. The slide to frame fit is excellent. I shot a box of 50 rounds out of it yesterday, and it was flawless. IMO, this is a lot of gun for $449. I'm happy with my purchase. I didn't need another .45, but I just couldn't pass up this deal. My brother went down about an hour after me and purchased one as well.

I think you did well. I'd have trouble walking away from that deal. One way to look at it is you won't lose any money if you decide to sell it down the road.

What store is this again? I wouldn't mind having one.

peggysue, Great point!

Slimjim9, putting that money towards something on my need list is a wise idea!

IdahoG36, thanks for the pic. What did you pay for yours? It's tough to pass up this kinda deal. I've always had it in my mind that I need a stainless one to bring it all together. Maybe I'll regret it if I don't jump on this deal.

Well, call me Mr. Impressionable

I'm gonna buy it! :)

As for where... well, I guess I can spill the beans... but if I end up missing out on one because you guys beat me too it, you'll be hearing about it! :p

Sportsman's Warehouse...

Better yet, if you want one buy the standard version and leave the stainless for me! I really ought to buy one of each but I don't have the money for that :o

Very nice thanks. Tell you what though, I promise I won't take the last one without knowing that you got yours first. I would like a non-stainless version myself so I think we are good..:D. Seriously though, thanks for the heads up.

Wish I had paid that for mine 2 years ago...

Seriously though, I like mine a lot. I have the R1S. It has been utterly reliable and as accurate as I am.

I did switch out the grip safety and hammer though. No fault of the gun, I just have big hands and am a lot more comfortable with an extended beaver tail on 1911s.

I paid $524.99, and with the $75 rebate the total is $449.99. That is a steal IMO. I walked into Sportsman's Warehouse here in Boise to browse, and saw sale flyers posted at the gun counter with the prices.

I asked if they had the stainless in stock, which they did, and about 3 minutes later was filling out my 4473:D

Wow IdahoG36!

So you got yours for $40 less than I'll get mine... That is a crazy good deal. I'd be doing a bit better if it weren't for our Colorado state background check fee. Congrats on your steal!

I've thought about getting the black one because it's still an all stainless gun I believe but with a coating so I'd actually see it as being a more expensive pistol but for less money, however my whole reasoning for the purchase is that I don't have a stainless 1911, so I guess I'll pay a little more for it. The black one looks great though, I might even favor it's looks over the stainless.

Targa, you're very welcome:) The sale starts at 9am on Monday.

At my local Sportsman's Warehouse, they still have the R1 listed at $399.99 for the blued version, and $449.99 for the stainless after the $75 rebate. Like I said, I thought it was a great deal.

IdahoG36...

My mistake, I must have misread you message, looks like I'll be getting the same price as you.

These Special sales always make me nervous. I hope I can get mine with out a hitch, and I hope I get a good one!
