Okay, question. The base price on this rifle is $825. But I am looking into a .308. I understand this rifle comes in three calibers ( 30-06, .223, and .308). My question Is how big of a price difference is there between these three types of calibers. Specifically the price of the .308.
Thanks,
Joshua

Man thats a lot of moola ! Unless you are super serious
fanatic, visit your local pawn shops. Due to massive unemployment
now there are hundreds of great rifles being nearly given away
at the pawn shops. I recently picked up a 7mm rem mag in
Rem 700 model with Nikon scope and 50 dollar sling for
275 dollars before tax. I wasnt picky... I was really
looking for a 25-06 but I couldnt pass it up.

Besides, I wouldnt own a .308
It aint fast, it aint big, It is just medium everything.
it's boring. All it has going
for it is it is military std. get sumpthin with
character !

I shoot a Remington 700 Milspec 308 for whitetail and love the caliber. I've shot most of the rifle calibers out there up to 300 ultra mag and have not found anything I would rather shoot than my 308. Bash it all you want, but its effective! I've taken game at 300 yds and shoot target at 500 yds frequently and can't complain.

To the OP, shop around, you can find a good price if you're willing to look for it.

Thank you flashover251. I am definently going to look around. Got a list of about 15 dealers around me and am going to check them out tomorrow. What is the big difference between a .308 and .223 besides size. I am looking at long range target shooting. Around 300 to 600 yards. Is there a particular caliber that shoots better?

If you are going out to 600 I would say stick with the 308. I have a 223 that I shoot out to 300 but I prefer the larger caliber for longer range. Unless you really want to drop quite a bit of money and get a 338 lapua mag, I'm still saving up for one myself. Just my 2 cents worth.

Bud's price is $651. I bought a Remington 700 308 Win, Special Purpose Synthetic Varmint/26" Heavy Barrel for the same purposes you stated for $512. It isn't as loud, and it has a 4" longer barrel which improves accuracy as long as you follow through. It is a heavier gun and it isn't as tacticool but those were pro's rather than con's for me.

Edit: It also comes in more calibers, some flatter shooting than the 308.
