Remington 700 vs 770

Ya tomorrow I am heading out to wheeling West Virginia to cabelas and getting a New Remington 700 ADL bolt action rifle!!! I am so exited I can not wait!

770 is the worst rifle I have ever owned and operated in my life. Very poor quality. For the price the Savage Axis is way better of a gun all the way around.

Many big box stores carry ADL's still for less than $400.

The newer 783 is a far better rifle than the 770. Pricing in 2015 has come down to about $290 at most places.

I have a 783 and it is a fine shooter. I like it very much.

These days, the SPS is a nicer rifle than the ADL. However, I've been reading very good things about the Rem783. Remington finally got an inexpensive rifle designed well. It's a real bargain!

Orion , what store has the ADL For less than $400??

Wal mart runs them around here for $297 on sale 2 or 3 times a year... reg price on them is about $349-379. Ive bought 2 in the past 3 years time for $297 in the fall when the Remington $50 mail in rebate is going on. End up with about $270ish in them.
The Wally world 700 243 youth model I bought is one of my favorites.

Rem. 700/770

I have one of each and both shoot equally well and take deer year after year. Although both are "cheap" and not so pretty they do perform well for me. I'm not one to shoot hundreds of rounds a year mainly due to time constraints and I can afford a 1500$ rifle but choose not to spend that kind of money on a rifle that will eventually get scratched or dinged so the cheapy rifles work in my case. I do have some nicer 500-900$ rifles that shoot no better than my cheapy rifles. In my opinion if a cheap rifle is all someone can afford or wants to buy thats fine, they can still put lead downwind at paper or venison. I rather hunt with cheap junk thats ugly and shoots dead on at 300 yrds plus than to sit home till i think i could afford that 1500$ rifle. In short shot placement is key so hunt on no matter what one can afford. I subscribe to 5 outdoor mags and watch Sportsmans channel often and seems to be they make hunters believd they need the best of the best which is wrong, they get their nice stuff free so why not have the best. My dad goes hunting with an old 30/30 worth less than 100$! and puts meat in the freezer every year!!!

The only 770 I had in my hands (not all that long ago.)_ To me it was a huge disappointment as a Remington product. When this used rifles bolt was pulled fully rearward to its stop. It was so sloppy I almost thought I could actually pull it free of its receiver without to much effort on my part. And to think the young hunter traded his deceased father's 300 Savage even up in a Duluth, MN store front Gun Shop for it.:(
