dear fellows,
can a .308 Win. Remington 700 Police with a OEM detachable 4rds magazine, produced an bought in the late 1990s, be converted to an internal / non-detachable magazine like most of the remington 700 rifles do have?

do i just have to change to a trigger guard with standard floorplate, mag-spring, follower for short action systems and the sheet metal "magwell" for the internal magazines or won't the rounds feed properly in the police rifle with the formerly detachable magazine due to different reiceiver types etc.?

Thanks a lot
Dusty

The Remington 700P 308 cal. The trigger guard and magazine floor plate is a one piece unit, and yes you will need the magwell , spring & probably another follower. HS Precision is the stock on the 700P.

More people are going the other way, converting Model 700s into bottom feeders.

I bet if you were to advertise you'll find plenty of people willing to switch parts with you.

I too, personally don't care about making my bolt guns bottom feeders.

But nothing wrong I guess, folks just like different set ups.

Interesting topic. I have a savage model 10 that is magazine fed. I rarely use the mag. I usually load one round at a time.

Murphy's Law applies to hunting and shooting also. To some hunters a drop box mag is just another detail to go wrong. The only mag fed rifles I own are semi's and I always strive to KISS, especially in the mountains.
