In Australia left hand precision rifle chassis are almost impossible to get. Remington 700,s are as prolific as flys here but the left hand chassis are like diamonds. You can order them but the wait period is between 12 months to 3 years depending on the chassis and dealer. A local engineer here is now designing left hand only precision rifle chassis for the Rem 700. I have seen the base design on paper and comp cad, and they are fantastic. right handers will be jealous when they these units. I am about to purchase a Rem 700 CDL 270 long action left hand. I have friends who also own 700 SPS Varmint 22-250 & 243. Another with 700 SPS compact in 7mm-08 (all left hand). Rifle chassis to be developed are for the 700 SPS varmint short action series. My question is are left hand 700 models including the 223 dimensionally the same. I know mine will be a longer action but is the rifle construction all the same the difference only being bolt length. Will the CDL fit into a stock designed for SPS varmint? And will all 4 calaburs available for SPS varmint LH fit the same chassis? Thank you in advance for your thoughts. I know this was a lengthy question.
