Remembering back in time.

I started about 1960 ---when I was about 10 yrs old...my Grandpa reloaded and he taught me.

Grandpa taught me how to shoot, track big game ( Montana ) - and in Fall of 1963 ( I would have been 12, I killed my first Bull Elk ( 4 point ) with a .30-40 Krag lever action with ammo we reloaded...and he gave me that rifle, an old model 95 - for my next birthday that following January. I was tall but skinny at 12...and that rifle was a serious load for me to pack thru the brush..but I killed a lot of Whitetail deer, black bear and Elk with it thru the early 70's.

I shot some Trap and Skeet in early 70's...got reasonably good at it ...and started reloading shotshells in about 1974.../ and have kept it up thru today.

Today I'm not hunting big game anymore ..but I still reload all of my handgun ammo ( 9mm, .40 S&W, .45 acp, .38 spl, .357 Mag and .44 Mag )...and shotshells in 12ga, 20ga, 28ga and .410 ....and we have 10 grandkids now from 3 to 24..with the bulk of them being teenagers - so now, its my priveledge to teach them to shoot and reload a little bit in my shop / for handguns and shotshells.

Its been fun ...and a big part of my gun hobby for over 55 yrs...

Back in the early 60's my father took me trap shooting. I loved it , and thought about it all the time, but our range time was limited, and the next best thing was to reload the shells during the down time. I loaded with a Lee (wack a mole) loader, and it occupied my time until we would go trap shooting again. I started metallic cartridges later on, but still reload shot shells , and still enjoy it after all these years. Now days I use a press, but I still have that very first Lee loader sitting on the shelf, price marked at $ 9.95 ..

Back in the '70's as a teenager I got a Dakota 45 Colt. In order to afford to shoot I started reloading with RCBS dies on an RCBS press. Later, as a Marine on the USS Ranger, I loaded .45 ACP while on duty at night in the brig using a Lyman tong tool. The 1st Sgt caught me but didn't say anything.
