Reliable, Concealable, 9mm Less Than 400 Dollars

You could do a lot worse than buying _my_ PCR...

If you are interested in a nice concealable 9mm for $400, I'm selling my PCR. Take a look over on the pistols for sale forum.

Rocko357,

I no longer own the holster--never really needed it actually.

I did try it out, though, and I found that drawing the pistol would shift the holster when it's set up with the 15-degree cant. Seems like it needs another connection to the belt. Or perhaps my pants were loose. It was fine without the cant.

It's pretty thick too.

CZ PCR or Compact

Looks like alot of great advice.
I have a CZ PCR and a 75B.
The PCR doesn't weight as much as the steel compact other wise they have much in common. PCR has a decocker, Compact a safety, PCR has a loaded chamber indicator which I like.
My PCR will take the hi caps that the 75 B came with so you could have hi cap options on the reload.

My PCR is very accurate. Haven't come up with an IWB holster yet but I'm looking. The HS America I shot was a dandy accuracy wise, if you like the Glock style trigger and a polymer frame you should give it a look-see. I don't think SA will support repairs on the HS. I liked the grip safety on the HS as opposed to the Glock which has none. Loaded chamber indicator on the HS.
Have several friends that have Firestars and they swear by them.

If I could have only one pistol, and it not be a 1911, it would be the PCR.;)

Shmackey,

I see someone is either using skateboard tape or maybe the rubber equivilent. I think more would do so if they gave it a try.

If your looking for a holster for the PCR, checkout:

Greg is a great guy to buy from. Very good quality, and great customer service. He lists holsters for the fullsize 75B, but if you contact him he will hook you up with something that will work on the compact frame.

p.s. I love mt PCR!

I guess I'm just missing something here.

If you are really limited to $400, and if you really want it to be dependable, buy a USED Glock 19.

It will still have lifetime service from the factory, and will go "bang" every time you pull the trigger.

My vote goes to a CZ 75D Compact PCR. It's a GREAT little pistol, and fits my needs perfectly. It's light, compact, and I really like the decocker instead of a safety (I don't care for safeties, and I REALLY don't like lowering a hammer on a live round w/out a decocker.) I picked mine up for $400, at a local gun shop.

If I couldn't find this pistol, and had to choose something else, I'd probably look into the HS2000/Sprfld XD. Well, I guess the Springfield is actually priced out of your range, so it would be the HS if you could find one. I liked the sample I fired, and it was quite accurate.

I had a Firestar in .40 S&W which I carried for a couple years. It's a great shooter, with fantastic accuracy. It would do some quirky things sometimes (drop the slide and the hammer fails to stay back, fail to go into full battery, etc.) so I finally had to switch carry-guns. I sold it a few years ago for $275, $25 more than I paid for it in 1995. I would give it a decent rating, but you could do better w/ your budget.

I have no experience w/ a Kel-Tec P11, but my P32 has been full of headaches. YMMV. Unless size and weight are your two most important factors, why risk it with so many other great guns out there?

I like Taurus revolvers, but I have heard horrible things about their autos (mostly about the Millenium series.) I can't recommend or give evidence regarding any of these. If a revolver was an option, I paid $400 for my 617t (7-shot .357mag, total Titanium, snubbie.)

The Kahr would also be a great choice if you wanted a REALLY small pistol. Good quality, just a little too small for my big hands (my thumb kept engaging the slide-stop while firing.) This particular pistol has proven VERY well for many people. Don't pass it up without checking it out.

In all- I went w/ the CZ PCR. It fit MY needs perfectly. You'll have to get out to the local ranges and try these different pistols out for yourself before you can make the best decision for YOUR needs. Enjoy the shopping experience, you can learn so much about what's out there and maybe a little about yourself.

KP95DAO,

Yep, that's stair tape from Home Depot. Probably about a quarter's worth.

I wouldn't bother owning a semi-auto without stair tape. It's easiest to put on 1911s because the frontstrap only has one radius, but as you can see, you can put it on compound-radius pistols if you stick to the middle. I kind of like the duo-tone frontstrap this way; it matches the rest of the pistol.
