I would research a lawyer carefully, sure wouldnt call the ACLU lol, I have done alot of things on my own when I was told it couldnt be done without a lawyer. I have seen quite a few lawyers just milk people and say sorry, I do have an advantage as I used to write contracts and investigate fraud when I was with the Air Force and was quite used to dealing with regulations and researching law etc. I would exhaust all your own avenues if money is an issue and then shop for a lawyer, if money isnt an issue than a lawyer may be the easy answer. I would call the state bar assoc. and ask for the best lawyer pertaining to your particular problem, some states have this on the internet though mine doesnt. I usually find determined persistance in a polite way will usually triumph. Thankfully N.H. is carry friendly and in my town the police chief approves the license, this can be good and bad as when you get an anti they play judge, jury and executioner. Some chiefs have tried to overstep thier authority but to my knowledge none have suceeded as they have to have a really good reason for denial. I just renewed my license and if I remember right it asks if you have been instituionalized and then you have to explain, not sure if it is absolute denial as they do ask for an explanation .
