Recommend me a rimfire scope

Your choice seems to be a little bit of overkill for a 17hmr, 8-32x40 is more like a .223 scope...

I mounted a Nikon Rimfire 4x32

I bought one of those last year to mount on an inexpensive rifle and I am amazed at that little scope. The glass seems much better than the price point should suggest. It seems to be fairly durable, the controls are easy to use, and it's a fixed power scope which means that there are fewer knobs to futz with and less to break.

I really like that little scope and it's mounted on a .30-30 Handi rifle that I use as a grandkid rifle. My only criticism of it was that I wish that the parallax was set at 100 yards rather than 50 yards. But, it is a rimfire scope, so the parallax setting is appropriate to it's intended use.

It's a heck of a bargain for a $100 scope. If Nikon would set the parallax at 100 yards I might buy a half-dozen of them.

I picked up a 40 dollar Centerpoint last year for what I thought was a temporary scope solution. I wanted to move the high dollar scope to a new rifle but like to use my CZ for practicing basic breathing and firing routines and shooting at 200 for wind reading practice. 14 months later I am still shooting with it and do not plan on replacing it anytime soon

Haha...it's way overkill, but between that and a 4-16 or 6-24 was a $100 difference. And of course, it'll give me an excuse to buy a .223 or .308 later ;).

I actually have that for my Marlin 795! It's a very nice scope, and I believe I bought it off Amazon for $90.

I wish it had a model that offered much more magnification though. At 50 meters I can only center the crosshair and guesstimate. At 100 yards I might be lucky just to hit within the 9 ring.

So I forgot to take pictures at the range, but I shot 0.60" with CCI game points (20 grains) at 50 meters on a fairly calm day.

No pictures of the targets, but I wanted to at least show you guys the setup:

-Harris Bipod Benchrest Model
-Bushnell Elite 8-32x40mm
-Warne Tactical Rings
-DIP 25MOA Scope Base

On my previous rimfire (Marlin 795) I mounted a Nikon Rimfire 4x32

I've got the very same one (I assume that you are referencing the ProStaff model) mounted on one of my .22 rifles (a Remington Model 504) and have been very happy with it. The scope seems well-made and the optics offer plenty of clarity. I like to hunt squirrels with my .22s as well as shoot at targets and I've never found a four-power lacking for my purposes.
