Recommend a .22 Pistol

Shortwave, . . . One of the Buckmarks would be about 20 years old, . . . the other closer to 15.

Of all the guns I've had in my 50 years of gun ownership, . . . they have been right up there in the top for dependability and being non problematic.

May God bless,
Dwight

Got a chance to try out my Ruger Mk II (pictured on previous page) today for the first time. It's reliable, fun to shoot, and accurate, if that's what matters most, thumbs up. Best .22 I've ever had in fact, but I don't know how much that says. One downside is, it's rather easy to get pinched when cocking the MkII. I think the gun could have been better designed to prevent that.

I have a Browning Buckmark URX, with a Tactical Solutions Pic-Rail, and a NcStar Red-Dot sight....I love it. It's super accurate, cheap to shoot, and lots of fun....

Browning Buckmark URX = $299.00 + Tax at Academy Sports and Outdoors
Tactical Solutions Pic-Rail = $29.99 @ MidwayUSA.com
NcStar Red-Dot Sight = $60.00 @ OpticsPlanet.com

Ruger doesn't make the MK III and Mk II in 22/45 NEW. The 22/45 is it's own model now. (That's why I recommended the 22/45.) Add, IIRC, Ruger hasn't made the MK I or II NEW for some time.

I do believe one can get the MK III STANDARD NEW for the price mentioned or less though. But, probably not the other MK III models. I'm only talking new here.

My 22/45 is the 5.5" Bull Barrel and I paid $249 for it in November 2008.

Bill, I'm not trying to split hairs here, but the 22/45 has in it's model numbering system whether it's a MK II or MK III. Look at the model number printed on your box.

Here is Ruger's information from the link you provided in your post.

P512MKIII 10107 Blued Alloy Steel 5.50" 9.50" 2.06 lbs. 1.00" 5.35" $326.00
P4MKIII 10109 Blued Alloy Steel 4.00" 8.00" 1.94 lbs. 1.00" 5.20" $326.00
KP512MKIII 10110 Stainless Stainless Steel 5.50" 9.50" 2.19 lbs. 1.00" 5.35" $435.00

They are still catalogued as MKIII 22/45's and that is what I was referring to in my earlier post. I paid 265 for a P512MKIII less than 2 mos ago. My MKII 22/45 was used when I purchased it for 299.00.

I got a MKIII about a year ago. Its a great pistol, but after trying a friends Buckmark, I wish I'd bought that one. Feels better in the hand, shoots great.
