Re-Blued Model 10 is Home!

Homerboy-
As I said, it's great that you are happy with your gun.

Sevens-
Bluing is a beautiful finish. I was speaking of refinishing, in general.
Guns have also traditionally been offered with upgraded finishes-
first silver plating, then nickel, then industrial chrome, then nitriding.

Wear depends

Bluing doesn't "wear off" that easily. It take lots of times holstering and reholstering to do that. This was a cop gun and it sure had seen lots of holster wear.
Holster wear doesn't necessarily mean the weapon has been unholstered and reholestered multiple times. After 4 years of carrying a Colt Python in both a swivel and open faced holster I was required to have it reblued to pass inspection. Bouncing around in the holster, not only riding motors but walking, sitting, throwing the pistol laden Sam Brown on my easy chair at end of shift, and everything else that caused movement between the weapon and the hard harness leather holster simply rubbed the bluing off. In those 4 years I didn't draw and holster that weapon over 75 times.

Absolutely. In fact, NOT drawing a weapon from a holster could be even worse. Gotta wipe them down. But as I said, this one won't be holstered at all. No reason to. It's a range gun that could also be used in home defense since it sits in the safe next to another revolver with a speedloader next to them. The other revolver( a Model 67) is the gun my wife would use if she ever needed a gun. She is comfortable with using a speedloader and a 38. If she grabs the 10 instead of the 67, no big deal since they're basically the same gun.
