RCBS outsourcing production

Go out to your local harbor freight and buy one of thoes quality "made in China" chisels and tell me about a quality product lol. They are made out of soft crappy metals and are garbage, yes I know not all things are made the same and out of the same materials but they suck and are stamped where they are made. This is where people get the idea that all things made from country X are garbage. The U.S. lost alot of its industrial strength over the last 40 plus years by sending production overseas due to cheaper cost and looser epa/safety requirements. This is why I always check the pawn shops for old chisels and punches and certain tools, the older tools were better and were made out of superior steel and will hold an edge longer.

I do not have tokens so I will not be posting pictures, but I took a few pictures of 'some' of my tools, the picture of my gages weighed 600 pounds and then there was the picture of my chisels, drifts, cape types etc. it weighed 400 pounds, what does that mean? It means I will not be purchasing chisels from anyone, but there are times I take the trouble to help someone in a bind, there is no way I can take enough tools to fix everything so there are times??

I wouldn't do it but I had a friend that needed some tools to make a repair in a parking lot, he purchased the repair part and tools to install, when finished he left the tools in the parking lot, when he told me what he had done I askedl "WHERE?" "WHEN?".

I do not make my living with my tools, if I did they would be name brand quality
such as Bosh or Makita.

So I shop Harbor Freight their tools work OK for me.

And do not forget there were tools made here in the USA that were pure
junk!

Actually if you know hand tools, DeWalt is the go to, assembled in Mexico which which is better than helping the Chinese in my opino0n

I think that most of the opposition to "Made in China" has as its theme the idea of Patriotism and not a fear of lower quality.

Sinkers (framing nails) , made in Korea, cheap, bendy (as opposed to US Steel that did not bend)

Sockets that break, split pipe (Vertical, ALL ) on the AK Pipeline (made in Japan)

Corroded 48 inch pipe, entire pipeline, made in Japan .

Cheap bearings, made in China, we don't use them.

Been there, done that for 40 some years and yes there is a reason Chinese stuff is cheap.

That does not mean RCBS does not know what they are doing, selective stuff out of China is fine, mostly its US MFgs owning the plant. It can work, mostly US made and or supplied parts to Mexico/Canada works better.

Extension cords that done' t fit the prong on the male end plugs is a typical issue from China.

It would help a lot if the OP would list what he is showing unless the idea is to stir things up.

Looks like the OP achieved what he was after. He hasn't been back and there's been no evidence provided that any part of RCBS dies are made in China. And things have been stirred up.

Things are built to certain price points. If you want to shop at harbor Freight (or Target, Lowe's, etc.) then you will get exactly what you pay for - no different than guns built to sell at certain price points regardless of where they are made.
