MR CAMP, WHEN YOU GET THE TIME CHECK THIS OUT WITH YORE M24 44SPECIAL.
Put the original wood stocks, or any good wooden stocks, back on this pistol and re-shoot all these loads. You may be well surprised with the results. It has been my experience that PACHMAYR grips de-grade accuracy significantly. As a matter of fact a fellow told me this 15 or more years ago and I told him he was full of shiq. I bet him a case of beer on this.
I took a half dozen or more S+W sixguns to the range in 38spl, 357mag, 41mag, 44spl, 44mag, 45AR, 45acp, and 44mag, all with their PACHMAYR grips in place. I shot all of these pistols with their favored loads, then put all of their original wood stocks back in place.
To be truthful I lost that bet and the sumbitch didn't even offer me a cold one.
The guns with the PACHMAYR grips in place averaged well over 50% larger groups than the same guns with the same ammunition when shot with wooden stocks. Once I realized what the score was here I wasn't too surprised. All of those fliers you see in your groups can be easily caused by the pistol bouncing around inside those rubber stocks as the bullet is going up the barrel and exiting.
All of my personal S+W sixguns were outfitted with BEAR HUG Skeeter Skelton style stocks as fast as I could do so financially. My old K22 still has it's 1958 issue wood stocks as they just look right and handle fine.
Believe it or not the HOGUE rubber grips do not do these weird things to accuracy so evident with the PACHMAYR grips.
