range discussion

Lucky for us that there are so many knowledgeable experts hanging around ranges and gun shops (and the internet) to dispense their unsolicited advice and point out the error of our ways.

Opinions are like a$$holes, everyone's got one.

Ya think? bwah ha hah.

Ever notice how the true professionals never seem to need to put down others or brag about how great they are?

I think TunnelRat nailed it.

As a corollary, I had a similar thought the other day.

There are always threads where less expensive brands of firearms are bashed, sometimes even by people with little or no first-hand experience. Replies like "I have owned a bunch of them and they work just fine" seem to anger some of these posters.

Is it possible that in some cases some small part of the problem is that they don't want to hear or accept that someone else's $400 pistol is just as reliable and effective as the one that they paid $1200 for?

Maybe I'm wrong. It's just a thought I had.

This is true for ANY tool.
Who says they have to be just tools? I Never saw a guy get so exited about a new hammer that he went out and hammered nails in an old board til the cows came home! If guns were nothing but tools then they would be no fun to have. Just another job/task needing done. So boring.

I went to the range and I happen to be be using a Sig sauer p226 as my primary carry right now so thats what I took to the range.

Any way he was shooting two different glocks, he packed up to leave and came over to talk before taking off. he started his conversion off with you should get yourself a glock that sig will fail for you when you need it most. Thats why almost all LE use glocks you know.

Sounds like a Glock Fanboy. :) Also, LE gets them at half price.

I was stunned and returned with no, not really it's because they get them so cheap and thats why you see most all of the elite agencies like the Navy Seals,Texas Rangers.national Guard, FBI and many others that can afford them use sig's. He just said well have a good day!

I would expect a Navy Seal to be more willing to haul the extra weight of a P226 than the average LE?

I have four Glocks, and really like them. I also love my two Colt 1911s and my Sig P938.

I will probably get a Sig P226 next. In fact, the reason I don't have one now is that I stopped to pick up the P938 and couldn't stand to give it back. :D

If the National Guard is now being called, or thought of, as an "elite" unit then that term has been watered down to be almost meaningless.

That being said, I wish people at the gun store, or range, would keep their gun opinions to themselves unless otherwise asked.

What do you guys think about my reply or his statement?

I think that he was rude and you were too nice. A British-style, "Oh, really?" followed by dead silence and ignoring him was in order.
