Quick and easy upgrades for the Ruger 10/22.

10/22 Newbie

Great stuff here. I haven't had a firearm since the service and shortly thereafter, probably close to 30 years, due to going to school all my life plus living in Asia. However, I just bought a Ruger 10/22 with black synthetic stock and stainless steel barrel from Walmart. In all honesty I'll probably just target shoot with it. I'd like to fine tune it but I am not to be trusted with any tools. Would like to add scope and tripod. I've already ordered the BX-25 magazines. Guess I'll send this baby off to have it worked on. Any recommendation for ammo?

There sure was a nice looking mini-14 there also....

You know, I've always wished that I was a little mouse in some of these gun manufaturers test area. I'd sure like to know what they use. I have seen what .22LR Smith recommends as it's in their manuals. .... :)

You are going to get a lot of choices here and What I like is CCI-Minimags, Stingers and Winchester Super-X. I also have cheapies for just fun casual shooting. .... ;)

I've had good luck with the cheap plastic BC mags. I bought 4 on sale for $12 each. one is worn out but the other 3 still work great. best bet is the tactical innovations mags. those factory 25 round ruger mags look very promising.
 
Pretty much any CCI ammo is good. Stingers, Mini mags, Velositors, and green tag for precision. The only other I shoot is Federal 510 in bulk. I stay away from remington and winchester bulk.
