Question on case weight

Good work. Your case weights are pretty close. Mine have a wider range, I'm not sure of the quality of ADI & HSM brass. It sizes & shoots good. I'm going to try the water volume test after I fire these rounds. Shooting benchrest, I found it interesting on the weight range of the cases & where it effects accuracy. Thank you for posting your chart. Chris

Ive weighed a bunch a cases over time and generally the same head stamps are pretty close to the same weight . Now i've came across older head stamp years that have quite a bit of difference but if they're recent production they all tend to be close , inside of 5 grains

Are you trimming all cases to the same length before weighing ? It's important you do that whether they are sized or not . You'll need to to trim your fire formed case to do the water volume test as well . The test i just did i trimmed the cases to 2.003 because that was the shortest fire formed case i had .

EDIT :

I was just looking at my chart again and noticed the LC-10 cases had case #5 weigh 183.6 and case #9 weigh 186.5 ( 2.9gr difference ) but the case volume was the exact same for both .

Yes, I removed the rired primer , sized & trimmed . I'm going to test the water volume test. I go overboard with my case prep. Only reloading the same 30 cases until problems occur. Starting with wet SS tumbling , F/L sizing to .001 case headspace , trim , chamfer inside & out , overboard is with 0000 steel wool . I have a cleaning brush in my drill press wrapped with the wool to polish the inside of the necks , rub the shoulder & neck with the wool also l will hold the case by the neck and spin the base of the case in the wool pad to smooth the base. Now that's overboard but again I'm only working with 30 cases. Thanks again , Chris
