question for you 1911carrying guys/gals

I have been carrying mine with the hammer down and one in the pipe. Mainly because I don't have a nice holster yet. Once I get one, I am gonna switch to cocked and locked.

If you're afraid of your own gun it will show if and when you NEED to use it! practice and get comfy with condition one or get a TDA pistol!

The only time you really need a gun YOU REALLY NEED A GUN!!!

When I carry my 1911, it's always COCKED AND LOCKED. Nothing less. That's the way is is supposed to be carried.

Know your mind, know your body, know your gun.

I can see two benefits to the SFS system:

1) It allows a police officer or other person who carries a pistol openly in public to have the advantages of Condition 1 carry without frightening those who consider cocked hammers unsafe.

2) It might frustrate a gun snatcher who managed to get an SFS-equipped pistol away from its owner.

cocked and locked that's the way its designed.. even BEFORE the firing pin block was standard.

UNLESS your 1911 has a DA trigger ;) but that first pull is a BITCH.

Point of clarification: the firing pin safety is NOT standard. It is found only on Colt Series 80 and Para-Ord pistols. All other 1911 pattern weapons are original pattern and lack the firing pin safety.

When I do carry a 1911, I carry cocked and locked. It is a relatively safe way to carry, and a sure way to get it into action if the time ever arrives.
