Question about the larger .357magnums' durability.

The Taurus 608 is built on their .44 frame, almost like a raging bull. If you've ever held one, you'd know that they're a beast. Not uncontrollable or unwieldy, just a beast. It probably has no recoil because of the weight and porting.

Have you considered the Taurus 627 tracker? It's much more "holdable" than the 608, and it's 7-shot. It's basically a copy the 686 Plus.

But, I'm getting a Vaquero, and it was my choice over all of these guns, so, you've got some deciding to do. It's just a cool gun, and it called out to me.

I've thought about it but right now I'm really leaning towards that 586. Also, I wasn't sure if the Trackers were closer to the S&W L-frames or K-frames with an extra round.

I do want to get a single action revolver soon myself. The Vaquero is a possibility because it just seems a bit more user friendly in some regards (because of the newer design) and much more robust than the Colt SAA clones. If I got this in .357 before another DA .357 it would satisfy my desire for a stronger .357. When I picked up my Colt Positive Special the dealer had a blued and case hardened .45lc Vaquero for $360 or 370 (don't remember for sure now) which is a great price for here. He also had a .357 stainless Vaquero with the imitation ivory grips that almost look real, great looking gun (it was somewhere in the mid $400's). Both were quite tempting but I got out of there without buying.

I'm getting the .357 stainless version. The main selling point for me is that it's much more durable than the SAA clones. The stainless really is a beautiful gun. The fact that I'll be able to shoot full house loads is very appealing, and I can't wait. I'm one of those recoil junkies!!!

If you have any questions, wait a few days and I'll have the gun and I can give you a report.
