Quality

I think Savage has held their own over the years. IMO the axis II is a great budget rifle. I had one and it served me well. I own two other Savages and am happy with quality of both.
 
Just bought a new Remington 572 Fieldmaster .22 pump and promptly exchanged for another. When box was opened, receiver had a dinge where the side met the top, clear through to the shiny metal underneath and bluing was flaking off the ejection port.

Very nice looking gun, but expensive at $584 plus tax, etc., for a .22. The slide action is very smooth and the wood is very nice.
