3) My heirs know nothing about guns.
Yep. Double yep. It's a double-edged sword, isn't it. Because of this, I've been able to find unbelievable bargains. But, what comes around goes around. I told my wife to have Rock Island Auction sell anything she or the kid doesn't want (assuming I'm 1st to die).

I am meeting Monday with an 83 year old neighbor to buy all his guns. I really want his father's Win 70. I told the wife last night. She says I have too many guns, it is an illness, and that I need to start divesting.

She can divest when I'm dead.

There was a specialty collector here who planned it out.
He kept an up to date inventory of his guns and gear, their present value, AND THE NAME OF SOMEBODY WHO WOULD BUY EACH.

When he kicked the bucket, his wife started calling people from that inventory. She paid off the house and car and had a nice nest egg left to start widowhood.
And people who cared got the guns after paying market value.
Everybody won.

I have two sons that I hauled to the gun range since their early childhood and have kept their interest in fine firearms alive and developping by giving them quality firearms from my accumulation since many years.

They can clearly tell the difference in quality and value of the Marlins I gave them in grade school to the Walther KKJ and Anschütz 54 sporters that they got for good grades in post graduate studies.

Agree with Jim Watson

After reading all of this post, I was about to say almost exactly what JW said.

I am not much of a control freak, but I would feel good knowing my carefully selected and cared-for firearms go to someone who appreciates them.

Even if I am gifting them!

Picked this freak up 4 months ago for $600. It was reblued in a very horrible way ( not by me) But it shoots awesome and the action is just as equal. I shoot the crap out of it!!!!! Love it:)

Here is the other side. The Pony is hardly recognizable. I thank the members of the Firing Line of talking me out of sending it to Colt Manufacturing and getting reblued, it would only have become a safe Queen!!!

I bought a revolver three weeks ago, that has the pony disappearing in the re blue

But it had Python grips that are worth so much, the revolver attached was at a discount.

Whoops, that was 3 months ago... wrong Colt.
