If it wasn't for the memories of "recent" Jewish history, Israel would have pulled out all the stops and implemented a "final solution" for the Hamas/Hezbola/Palestinian problem once and for all.... 
Wars aren't nice...wars aren't pretty..wars aren't PC...they're not supposed to be. And we need to fight this one in a way so brutal and overwhelming to our current enemies that it will cause any future enemies to pause and reconsider any aggressive acts toward us. That's how you win a war.....
What the US is doing in Iraq and Afghanistan (which needed anhillation in the first place) is nation-building. The GOP heavily and justifiably criticized Clinton for nation-building in Bosnia & Somalia. But they've been unusually silent here....
