Proposed ban for WI gas stations

I think there should be a law banning gasoline from gun stores. And while they are at it, why not ban bulls from china shops? Fortunately while there are moron legislators proposing stupid laws, that does not translate into those stupid laws being passed. My hope is that WI residents and leaders learn fairly quickly that allowing concealed carry does not lead to public mayhem. Maybe if that happens there will be some hope that here in the land of Lincoln we will see some progress toward joining the rest of the country and be allowed to legally carry to protect ourselves and our families.

BT, while I won't advocate breaking the law, my honest answer to you would be: it would depend on whether I had real reason for acute fear of violence from criminals.

If it were to become a matter of follow the law and die, or break the law and survive, I suspect that very, very few people are that ardent in their support of the law.

Wouldn't it make more sense to make it mandatory for every one not intent on criminal activity, to carry at gas stations due to the excess criminal activity at gas stations?

Guess it's some "blow back".

We had the same schtuff happen right after we got our Carry law passed: Libs from urban areas throwing fits and trying to put every little obstacle imaginable in the way of people Carrying...... but blowback works both ways, and thanks to the efforts of local grassroots organizations (NFOA!) and the fact that the "ZOMG! Blood in the STREETS!" scenario just did not happen and was shown to be more PSH by the usual suspects..... we now have a better Carry law than what we started with. It ain't perfect, but it is better than it was, and will be better in the future.

Robbing a gas station at gun point is already felony, yes.

Stealing a bag of Doritos or pocketing a cannister of 8-Hour energy drink is not (at least not in most states)

So under the proposed law, stealing a bottle of aspirin from a gas station would land someone a felony, but stealing a bottle of aspirin from Walgreens wouldn't....

Carrying only when you know or are fairly certain that you will be subject to criminal behavior is not very realistic. I used to teach basic motorcycle skills and when a student would state the obvious, that many riders were out there without any protective gear, I would state that these riders are obviously smarter than I am since they clearly must know that they are not going to have a crash today. Of course the point is that most of us, even those that carry 24/7 and have done so for many, many years are likely to never need their firearm for their entire life. I would guess that most people who carry understand that trouble can erupt without warning and in circumstances where it was never anticipated. Real life does not allow us to hit the "pause" button and run home to retrieve a gun.

The law will never make it, but basically it was an attempt to get a toe in the door. If they could have succeeded with this, pharmacies, jewelry stores, and liquor stores would have been next. Liquor stores and pharmacies basically means every grocery store since they all have a liquor department, same with pharmacies - it would have meant almost every Walmart, Target, K-Mart, because they have pharmacies.

They would have made carry illegal almost everywhere anyone would be likely to go.

It is this exact type of legislation that proves beyond any doubt, that the liberals do not have a brain that functions properly. There is no thought process what so ever. Their decisions are purely emotional and without any logic.
