Proposed ban for WI gas stations

I'm thinking though that there are going to be a bunch of gas station owners that have gotten robbed in the past that have just gone through the process of getting their WI cc permit, and they are going to say:

"What are you, Nuts?"

Lunacy,,,

Rep Josh Zepnick should be spanked for being Stupid in Public,,,
He as much as said that this was nothing but thinly disguised backdoor gun control.

Rep. Zepnick is probably worried that some of his constituents will get shot, by a CCW holder while they're robbing a gas station.

I'm confused, which is not hard to do, but still...

I have to ask, what good is it to make a law which only the lawful will abide by!!!

The bill would also upgrade to felonies any act of theft or criminal damage to property at a gas station.

Am assuming this would cover "gas n' goes" as well - in Ohio they just take your license for a few months.

Do not try to understand them,,,
(those who initiate these laws),,,
And don't try to make them understand you,,,
(it just scares them to more inane actions),,,
For they are a breed apart, and make no sense!
(because the law isn't about making gas stations safer, it's strictly about back-door gun control).

The provision to "upgrade to felonies any act of theft or criminal damage to property at a gas station" is basically a bribe to gas station operators to get on board with the gas station gun control. Because as I said previously every gas station owner has probably already received their CC permit and without the incentive of upgrading gas station crimes to felonies, they would reject this bill outright.

But you add the carrot of giving gas stations a special status, then maybe the gas station operators might think that the crooks will start robbing only liquor stores and convienience stores that don't sell gas...

And of course, next in line would be pharmacies, liquor stores of course (which would be expanded to any place that sells liquor), then jewelry stores. The list would expand...

I don't think it will pass but it's a good case study in what we're up against.

It's a good case study in stupid politicians who don't have a clue....

last time I checked robbing a gas station was a felony.

Because carry permit holders are significantly more likely to hold up gas stations than gang bangers without permits, right? Right.

What a moron.

"When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns." Like a prohibition on guns will stop any robber from knocking over a gas station. Aren't robbery and armed robbery already illegal in Wisconsin? What possible purpose could this law serve? This guy has a mind that works like that idiot in Washington who didn't want us to send more military personnel to Guam because he was afraid if they all stood on one side, the island would capsize.

I have always been concerned that as more people legally carry we will start to see an organized effort to limit the places where we can carry. We may end up in a situation where states allow you to get a carry permit, but then anti-gun groups will push to create an extensive list of places you cannot carry. This may be done through legislation or simply by persuading private organizations and business to ban firearms on their property.

Always thought that if I ever operated a convenience store or gas station, I'd have a large sign out front that read: "Licensed conceal and carry welcome". Probably would work better than security cameras.

Preventing CCW holders from carrying at a gas station will really stop crime there... :o I mean come on, people get their CCW license because they want to obey the laws. Getting a CCW license so you can hold up a gas station doesn't really make any sense.....

If they really want to get serious about it, perhaps they could declare gas stations "gun free zones" because that really works too.

This is one of the more clever defacto bans I have seen. Just about everyone goes to a gas station at least once or twice a week. Making them off limits to carry would sure discourage carry.

William Gilmore:
Maybe it's time for us all to start ignoring bad laws. Just say No.

A little civil disobedience can go a long way. Or maybe just straight to jail. Either way, if you aren't hurting anyone do what you think is right.

It seems this Zepnick guy doesn't understand that many people carry firearms to protect themselves from criminals. Though he does acknowledge that gas stations can be dangerous places, and have a habit of getting robbed. If we could just somehow bridge that gap. . .

Integrated Military Development Plan, for defense infrastructure projects for Guam: $15 billion.

Cost of relocating 8,000 marines and their dependents to Guam: $10.3 billion

Other miscellaneous Guam military construction projects $180 million.

The look on the Admiral's face when Congressman Hank Johnson tells him he's afraid that Guam will capsize: PRICELESS !!!

I believe he understands just fine, and the bill is designed primarily to harass gun owners. (it also likely would not pass muster with the WI state constitution.)

What this is is a form of chipping away of our gun rights. I think that the next thing will be bans at supermarkets, fast food places and anywhere else the stupid politicians can think of. I have waited for for carry to be legal so I can tank up at night as I work second shift. There never is a push to keep the thugs off the streets at night and it can be a bit scary at my local gas station. Wouldn't it be nice if they treated criminals like criminals and left the law abiding alone?
