Just does not happen in reality

LOL! You're so right- no CCW practitioner would ever be pre-occupied with his hands full!

Call whatever you like, but you'd bet your life on that, would ya? Same reason a chick shouldn't put a handgun in a purse- she just gave a purse snatcher a gun. Your arms are full, some scumbag sees you otherwise occupied, and you've got an obvious gun under your shirt. He doesn't consider your username, your possible branch of service, your hand to hand skills, or your mean look. He knows he can get what he wants, and you're incapable of defending yourself against him at the moment.

Ever hear of guys stealing wallets while the target is a guy is in a men's room at a urinal? Same deal- you're attention is elsewhere and the thief knows you can't retaliate- wallet's usually in the back pocket, you're tending to business, then...uh-oh, you're a victim. I think in that situation you should just yell "FUD!" at the top of your lungs, and the guy's guaranteed to give you back your wallet with an apology ;)

Have a good one, LT, but you're not convincing me with your code words that temptation isn't great enough for printing like that to be a possible problem

I wear some tshirts that do show an outline im sure... the law here says it has to be covered... not that you cant show an outline... I, Myself..would rather have a perp know that I am carrying...I dont believe that someone looking for easy prey would consider someone nearly six ft tall, weighs over two hundred pounds,,,that you can easy see they are carrying a loaded gun...to be EASY prey.

Disagree. VERY easy prey. Predators don't issue a challenge before the attack

I am 5' 8", 160 lbs, and absolutely guarantee you that I can render you helpless in a split second if you don't know I am attacking you. All I need is the motivation to do it and an utter disregard for your welfare

Sometimes I wonder if smaller guys have a clearer sense of things like that, because we didn't grow up assuming people would be afraid of us

I'm small , 5ft. 6 in , 145 lbs. , my fighting days are about over ,being 51 years old now, but I still keep in shape just for self preservation. ;) [ this really was a factor in me getting my chl & handguns ] :)
As for being big, perps usally travel in groups more when committing crimes againist the general public.
If you read about robberies, car jackings , there is usually more than one perp attacking a single person or couple.
So I not sure how much size is a deterent to crimminals these days.
Although I sure size cannot be totally be ruled out of the equation.
As stated earlier in my posts, I am a fan of concealment , unless you are an leo.

To me... the only real danger in printing or otherwise revealing your weapon is illustrated by the Costco incident in Nevada where some little geek called the police to report a guy with a gun was damaging merchandise.

Turns out the guy was a West Point Grad, and well respected member of the community who had his CCW.

Basically, a series of idiotic events lead to the cops shooting the guy in the front of the store.

I do every day, Chris_B. I open carry. Thank you for playing.

The felons themselves say that the odds are in my favor:

http://www.gunfacts.info/pdfs/gun-facts/5.1/gun-facts-5.1-print.pdf

Page 32:
Fact: 60% of convicted felons admitted that they avoided committing crimes when they knew the victim was armed. 40% of convicted felons admitted that they avoided committing crimes when they thought the victim might be armed.

Fact: A survey of felons revealed the following:
• 74% of felons agreed that "one reason burglars avoid houses when people are at home is that they fear being shot during the crime."
• 57% of felons polled agreed, "criminals are more worried about meeting an armed victim than they are about running into the police."

But you probably aren't interested in what the experts say.

The facts in the real world are, as far as crime prevention/defense.... at the worst, printing does not matter, at the best, it increases the odds a criminal will leave you alone if they KNOW you are armed.

Still waiting for the multitude of reports of BG's attacking helpless OC victims. Predators are cowards, why attack a grizz when there are plenty of sheeple. Maybe it's location, in the summer when I wear my thinest silk print shirts all the snowbirds aren't here. I admit I'm new to CC just started 7/29. been OC since 76 this BG grabbing the gun bs escapes me. The hard thing to prove is every time OC [or even printing] stops a crime there is nothing to report, only the BG knows. Just a BG looking for a new line of work, or sheeple.

Not sure I buy the idea that some perp simply seeing the gun will make them be "more" likely to attack you... thinking its a free gun? Could go either way really. A person of that type is the same one that would bop you on the head and take all kinds of stuff like your $25000 car, your watch, your wallet, your hot girlfriend? Is the gun going to be the trigger over these other things?

Whatever it is, this guys a criminal and who knows what will motivate them. In one sense I agree that if he is going to go after you after learning you're armed, then the stakes are raised. I think he'll be more prepared to shoot you or do harm even faster than he might otherwise. But thats a crap shoot since each one is different. Some may see the gun and turn to "easier" prey, but some may see it it as a "challenge" to take out this dude with a gun.

So which guy will you run into? I personally would rather they not know I'm carrying. I hope through situational awareness, I'll either recognize the theat and avoid it / be prepared for it or the perp will see that my head's not stuck up my A_ _ and this will be his signal that I'm no easy prey, thus moving on.

Not every predator will try you , but certainly there are some that will .
For those that feel more comfortable carrying open , that's fine with me.
Me myself , I would rather not show my cards. :)

Waiting to see what happened, the police aren't talking yet, it almost looks like a cover-up.

But Vegas police seems they like to shoot people.

Some of you are talking about areas where there is open carry, I don't think there is a down side to printing in those cases. But being someone who is not in an area like that, I have always looked at it as a challenge and a point of pride that NOBODY knew I was carrying. If you are in an area that is concealed only, then it should be concealed.

The term here in open carry Ohio is "sloppy carry". It's concealed but if your shirt rides up, outline shows or somehow you gun shows it's like "eh, whatever"
