Printing?

Do you guys think wearing a shirt that you can see the outline of your gun or aka 'Printing' is a good idea or not so great?

This forum (Tech Support) is for questions concerning the TFL site, not for firearms questions.

Moving to the Handguns forum ...

Bad idea or worse, depending upon locale.

A friend who took the Florida CCW course said that one should expect to be arrested and lose his carry permit if the outline of the gun shows.

What he said

Plus, to my mind you're advertising "Free gun! Just sneak up and surprise me! I'm not a cop, just a guy with a gun! Quickdraw is in the movies, so is Spidey-sense, so please tiptoe up, bash my brains, and...free gun! Untraceable to you! Get it while I'm dumb and looking the other way, fumbling for my cars keys in this parking lot or with my hands full of groceries the wife made me put in the car. Free gun!"

I know that a few guys will disagree with my opinion, but to me, "printing" is the same as Open carry...you give up the tactical advantage of concealed carry. Additionaly, you are drawing attention to yourself. That's why I'm not a huge fan of open carry. Everyone has their preferences, but I would rather have my weapon remain concealed.

Wear lots of flower shirts and i don't care how big your gun no one will be able to see past the flowers to know if you carry or not.

I've heard that in some jurisdictions that "printing" constitutes "brandishing." Why carry it "concealed" if it's not truly concealed? Keep that baby out of sight at all times.

It might be called a hobby but I try to spot those carrying; just for grins. It doesn’t matter what kind of shirt you’re wearing because at some point in your movements that gun is going to show an outline; well, perhaps if you’re wearing a 24 oz wool with an Hawaiian floral pattern it won’t.

I don’t believe a non-carrier will even notice if you have a shotgun stuck down your pants leg.

Anyway, it’s not a good idea to intentionally print.

In a state such as West Virginia, where OC is generally legal, I don't think it matters. To me personally, carrying a gun is a natural part of my attire just like a shirt, pants and shoes. I have made one accomodation in my dress for the gun. I always wear an undershirt. 90% of the time I open carry, I simply push my paddle holster on over my belt and go. I generally wear polo type shirts, so if I feel the desire to conceal in a sensitive area such as a shopping mall, I will simply take the shirt from behind the gun and move it to over the gun. Thus, the need to wear the undershirt. I just don't concern myself with it. Life is too short to spend time wondering if my gun is showing or not.

If I desire to wear a tuck-in type shirt, then I do. That simply removes the option of concealing the gun for me, unless it is cold enough weather to warrant a jacket.

Print paranoia is nonsense. In my experience people are so spaced out and lost that they'd hardly notice if you were open carrying... let alone a little print.

I only give printing any concern when I'm in a prohibited carry place. There's a guy I often see at a bar and grill that I sometimes frequent. He's the worst printer I've ever seen. Neither of us are supposed to be carrying there due to alcohol service, but.. ;)

What does YOUR state law state about this? Thats what matters, not what we think:eek:

I don't like to print , it can cause trouble in some cases.
There are crimminals out there that will try you to see if you are capable.
Then there are those anti gun people out there who will panick & call the law on you thinking you are some type of perp.
I like carrying my weapon & nobody know I have it but, me.
Stay safe & wise. :)

I live in Houston , work downtown .
If one thinks because they are carrying a handgun will deter some crimminals , think twice.
I rather have mine concealed & let it be a surpise  if an act does occurs.
