Just go get a metal snap cap! Your guys are waaay overthinking this they're like 11 bucks from A-ZOOM, and you'll never wear them out.
Yes, drop safety should always be considered and is often overlooked. However, the OP isn't intending to store with a round in the chamber. His questions are two fold: will storing with the hammer cocked weaken/damage the hammer spring and would a primed hull be a satisfactory snap cap substitution.zippy13 said:The intent of Cruiser Mode is to avoid having to do either of these functions... just pump and go.

From low ready, a cruiser ready shotgun can be raised and fired about as fast as with the round chambered, safety on.
