Preparing for Pelosi!

? Didn't write it-----it was an article by a criminology proffesor that I came across. Besides being firearm related I would think it also falls under general political issues. There are many articles each day with discussions about such issues with the elections upcoming. Is there something else you would prefer? BTW, grew up in S. Florida----graduated from Nova.

I check Townhall.com daily for Dr. Mike Adams' articles. He doesn't post everyday, but when he does it promises to be entertaining. And by the way, this guy is not "late to the party". He is a rare commodity in the pundit business. He actually knows whereof he speaks. Read some of his back postings and you'll see what I mean.

The man knows no fear.

For years and years, I'd read the NRA magazine and worry along with LaPierre and Co., the what-ifs, if the Dems took over, and got quite worked up. Every 2 years. This month's mag, warning of Schumer/Pelosi/Conyers et al, though such a takeover would be detrimental to gun rights, just doesn't get me worked up, for the first time ever - obvious reason is that for the first time, the party in charge has screwed up so many facets of the country, so badly, that any change would be better than current, even if it means creating battles for gun rights.

Look, we survived 8 years of Bill Clinton and Democratic control of Congress for at least two years of his reign. Minor annoyances and lots of Comedy but little real damage done.

The Republicans have blown it big time, they really deserve what is about to happen. A couple of years of "San Francisco" Nancy in charge with folks like Conyers, Rangel and Waxmann in charge of Committees will be good for us.

Adversity breeds character, we need this to happen every few years to keep us focused.

NRA membership will go up, gun owners will get fired up and eventually throw the bums out like they did in 94. An assault weapons ban type law every decade or so is good, look at the results. More states with CCW laws, pro gun business legislation, legal precedents asserting the right to self defense.

Besides, maybe Nancy and her cronies will throw out that Patriot act nonsense....nah probably not.

I'm sure the FFLs driven out business by ATF as part of the declared goal for reducing their numbers would disagree on the minimal damage. I also think the following people would strongly disagree: anyone who tried to buy an assault weapon and couldn't; anyone who paid far more than a reasonable value for a weapon or mag; and anyone who couldn't buy a weapon because NCIC just "happened" to be down or they seemed to have some resemblance to a criminal, or because some incredibly minor thing from the past was now being used agaisnt them for the first time ever.

:barf: If you guys don't think "any real damage was done", you just weren't paying attention. Not sure about you, but I LIKED AR-15s, 15rnd mags, bayo lugs, pisolt grips, carrying on school grounds when picking up my kids, etc. I also like handguns, semis, unlicensed ammo, protecting gun manufacturers from being sued for criminal's actions, not having to wait 10 days to get a gun, and not having to get an "arsenal" permit 'cause I own a certain # of guns or a certain # of rounds. Alot of the crap passed under Clinton was with a Republican controlled congress! Give the anti Dems control of all the branches, THERE WON'T BE A BATTLE!...you will be trying to recover losses of your gun rights for the next 20 years - atleast! Pelosi, Schumer, Hillary, Kennedy,Kerry, Rangel et. al. in charge? ARE YOU CRAZY??? WAKE UP!!!

You "pro gun" guys who just don't get it crack me up, in a scary sort of way. :barf: We are screwed.:(

A time of war, enemies who would gladly kill any of us, violent crime, murderers shooting up schools, malls and everywhere else, and you want to vote for people who gladly state they will do whatever it takes to make YOU give up your guns. NUTS!!!!

I don't know whats going to happen as far as the elections are concerned. We all know that exit polls and polls in general are essentially interchangeable with a roll of charmin. That said, if the democrats do get in power and things start to revert back to the way they were in the mid 90's all of those here who voted for them should take a long look in the mirror and know that in some small part they were responsible for what is going on.

What a totally unenlightened statement.

Did you enjoy the Clinton 1994 Gun Ban legislation that did "little damage"?
The ONLY reason that it is gone is because Republicans were alive and well when it came time to sunset, and never forget that it was intended to be made PERMANENT in the very beginning but it was only because Republicans that were there at the time wouldn't even consider it unless it was enacted with a sunset clause.

If Democrats had been in power in 2004, this "little damage" gun ban would not only have been made PERMANENT, but it would have been expanded as well.

Then what about all those anti-gun lawsuits brought by cities and other government entities against gun makers claiming that manufacurers were responsible when their lawfully manufactured guns were ultimately used in a crime? That was a (totally) transparent attempt to put gun makers out of business but failed ONLY because of the pro-2nd Amendment Republicans that were savvy enough to keep it (sort of) under control to where now we have Republican sponsored legislation to prevent any future such attacks.
Was THAT little period of history another one of those that did "little damage"?

I could go on and on and on...

Pay attention, man. Pay attention.

A bit more balance in FedGov might not be a bad thing. The Dems won't take the Senate and will hardly sweep the House (if they take it at all). That spells gridlock. After 5 years of rubber stamping every wish list idea for curbing the other nine Amendments, gridlock would be a welcome change.

The government is best that governs least. ;)

I'm paying attention. And I have my carry Permit, and My AR15, and mags.

I submit you folks are the ones who are not payin' attention.

This election is going to be a hoot!. Will probably take a year or more to sort out who is in charge. The critters in congress will be too busy impeaching and inditing and suing and throwing hissy fits to do much in the way of gun control.

Did you folks know that Rep Murtha is endorsed by the NRA? Along with two other Democrat Reps in PA! And they are all shoo ins. Check out the NRA PVF website.

Bush is a total waste, and staunch Republicans like Cunningham and DeLay and Foley we can do without.

My Republican Rep won with 93% of the vote last time, and Gerrymandered his district to eliminate Democratic Scranton. Then couldn't keep his zipper up and now will loose to an ultra liberal College Professor who wants "Sensible" gun control.

We need a good housecleaning and it looks like it might happen.

This election is just a wake up call.

Are you using TFL for a Crusade?

OK, you got me---I'm a Crusader. No more or no less then ANYONE else here!

We need a good housecleaning and it looks like it might happen.

Actually P. Buchanon was talking about this very topic this AM. He put it as the american people will realize when people like Pelosi and Rangle are in position----"hey, we wanted a change but we didn't want this!"---too bad so many can't figure that out now!

Rich,

Would you consider(label) the members(almost all) of TFL to be on a "crusade" for gun rights and ownership?

I see, and what exactly would the "single" issue be? Gas prices, House, Senate, Presidential, Religion, Guns, Economy, Law, Amendments, Constitution, Elections, Gay Marriage, Eminent Domain, Taxes, Censorship, Iraq, N. Korea, Conspiracy Theories, Conservatives, Liberals, 1st Amendment, 2nd Amendment etc...????????????????????

The "issue" might be anything:
Cop Bashing
Bush Bashing
Bush Fluffing
Liberal Bashing
UN Bashing
Muslim Bashing
Christian Bashing

You name the issue and we're likely to find someone, somewhere who can speak of nothing else. It only gets real old when that person happens to demonstrate an unfettered zeal to preach to others as though lecturing a grade school class.
Rich

I find it more of people debating these topics and it would be more in line of teaching then preaching---a term that gets thrown around alot here. Being as it is legal and political, you have a finite number of things to discuss---but since we have elections coming up AND a good part is devoted to gun advocates etc...it seems pretty germane to the topics right now----but that's just me. Perhaps we could just let the Mods present the topics of their choosing and we could just comment on them?
