Preferred 45acp powders?

I happened along 8lbs of N340 in a trade. Usually it costs too much and is not in my budget. It is excellent for reloading 45acp. Burn rate is similar to 800X. Very low flash and clean. It shoots great with my handcast 205gr SWC. 6.5gr shoots accurate in all my 45 pistols. This is just under a max load but doesn't feel it.

I like 231 but I don't go lighter than a 230 grain bullet in a .45 ACP. I use it with a 200 grain bullet in my 44-40's tho and it works well.

Try 231/HP28 and Titegroup.

I have been happy with both from a couple of 1911s and a SW4506.

I always seem to gravitate back to Universal though. Out of curiosity, what is your load data for the 200gr, using Universal, that wont cycle your CZ?

TiteGroup....is a very good powder.../ but what is the bullet and velocity combination that is not cycling your CZ ??

I'm wondering if you have another issue - rather than ammo...

As I put in a similar thread, I also like 700X. 4.5 gr of it used to put those 195 and 200 gr SWCs in the X ring every time but unfortunately I ran out of that can of 700X. Now it's the X ring only now and then.
