Practice with the gun you carry?

Your father knows the longer he tries to aim the more shakes he has the the more he worries about trigger control. And all he needs is one fast sight picture, even if it's just the top of the slide/barrel to get the gun on target.

When he shoots quickly he has a 'compressed surprise break' on the trigger. Still has trigger control but only needs a fraction of a second to make it break right.

Slow fire really only helps if you have good support for the muscles so they don't get tired and start to tremble.

Oh, and I bet aarond he has done this for many many a year to! That helps.
