PPQ caliber opinions?

I am more accurate with my PPQ 40 than with my 9 mm or my brothers 45. Not sure why it's basically the same frame  You say you go back and forth but in most your posts you like the 40 better. Just get the 40 and fall in love with the grip and sweet trigger all over again ;)

P71pilot,
the 9mm is a decent gun against a man - but only because a man will give up the fight more often than not. It is ballistically a 38 +P. Looking at the reload manuals you can load similar weight bullets to the same speeds that you get out of a 9mm. The 40 S&W is a slight improvement on the 45 ACP but still has the heavy bullets and moderate velocity. Your choice of gun will determine the number of rounds you can carry but more rounds are only good if they do enough damage to stop your hardest target. Black bears will most often walk away when confronted with loud forceful attack - but not always. They can get to just over 500 pounds in my neck of the woods so it is twice the size of a man. Big bullets make bigger holes and heavier bullets penetrate.
Since I'm not likely to talk you into a 357 or 44 I would recommend the 40 without hesitation over the 9mm.

I went to a store with my father to shop around a few days ago, and they had a new PPQ .40 M2 on clearance for $399, one of the guys said it has been sitting their a few years thats why it was so cheap, there was a 9mm variant next to it for $599. Which is the standard price i see.

Unfortunately i didnt have that much cash on me, so hopefully i can return there in a couple weeks and it will still be there waiting for me

OP You should give that LGS your deposit on that PPQ .40S&W, if it's been sitting there as long as you say I'm sure they would lay it away for you until you get the rest of the cash, I've bought many firearms this way.

I can't speak to the PPQ in .40SW, since I've never shot one, but the largely identical P99 in 9mm is a sweet-shooting pussycat. The P99 in .40SW... er... not so much. Perhaps because the P99 is one of the lightest duty-size pistols out there, the .40SW version seems excessively snappy to me.
