A bolt gun can take advantage of the gains of slower powders. I've used IMR4350 for a lot of years. I couldn't find any a while back, so I got RE17, which has the same burn rate. I didn't spend loads of time on precision match load development, as I was happy with 4350 as a good hunting load, but my groups got a little tighter, and I gained a little velocity with RE17 over IMR4350 with both 150 and 180gr bullets.
