Powder recommendation?

"Evidently, the distributor or merchants do not care there is only 9 oz., they charge the same as for a full pound of something else."

Uhm... OK. That's a peculiar gripe, but OK.

I shoot 72 rounds a day, seven days a week. At that rate, economy becomes an issue. Before taxes, Trail Boss costs 2.22 an oz. whereas Unique costs 1.56 and oz. and Bullseye in an 8 lb. container costs 1.10 an oz. So yeah, I guess I am peculiar that way.

Honestly, after browsing data.....I would try hp-38 and 231 first, if I had that on hand. Titegroup is my option, but is very similar to your 2 powders.

Trail Boss seems interesting, but I don't have a use for it.

And expensive as hell. I recently paid 19.99 (plus $1.18 Michigan sales tax, plus Pittman-Robertson tax), for 9 oz. I decided that for all its "advantages" it is just too expensive to use.
I go with Unique...it has worked for me since the sixties in .44 Special, .45 ACP and .45 Colt.

With Trail Boss, you need to remember that it's far more "fluffy" than any other powder, and you can't fit 16 ozs. of it in a typical can. You need to think of Trail Boss in terms of volume, not weight like you would other powders.

That said, Unique will work just fine in the calibers you mention, and has for a great many years.
