For those who haven't used POPVOX, it's a website that will send you an email when legislation its algorithms think will be of interest pops up.

I just received the following notifications, and thought they might be of interest here:

H.R. 3814 -- Just introduced this week!
Prohibits the Justice Dept. from tracking and cataloguing the purchases of multiple rifles and shotguns.

The Gun Trafficking Prevention Act (S 1973)
Makes it illegal to traffic or assist in the trafficking of a firearm, including straw-purchasers who buy a gun for someone else (according to the bill sponsor).

The Second Amendment Protection Act (HR 3594)
Expresses the sense of the Congress that the U.S. should not adopt any treaty that poses a threat to the right to keep and bear arms -- and to withhold funding from the United Nations if it restricts or infringes upon the rights of U.S. individuals to keep and bear arms.

I had never heard of POPVOX, but after seeing this, I will absolutely be investigating further. Thanks for the heads-up, MLeake. I've got a few folks that I try to keep posted on 2A developments, and this looks like it will make it easier.

I'm happy you are finding it useful. I was a bit concerned my OP might be short enough to be considered a drive-by, but figured the mods would probably cut it a break - as they did.

My dad is the one in my family who first found the site, though. He's an enthusiastic FairTax proponent, and that's why he started using POPVOX.

It's not just for gun legislation.

While the form of the post is similar, you pointed us to a resource that is relevant to the mission of this forum, and which many of us will find valuable. The intent and result are certainly different than what I'd call a drive-by.

TS, that's more or less what I thought you'd say. I still hemmed and hawed about whether I should have added something more, but didn't want to just add fluff.

MLeake, between the short description of you gave of the quoted material and the actual material you quoted (excellent choices, btw), was more than enough to show what the links were and what the site was about. It stimulated interest. It directed the discussion.

That passes the drive-by test. :D
