Savage M110 7MM Remington Magnum fireing a 150 Grain Nosler Balistic Tip at 3200 muzzle velocity with a good scope.

500+?

Not only possible it's not very damn hard with a good scoped bolt action rifle in a high velocity cartridge with a boat tail spitzer bullet.

Add a rangefinder and tape your ballistic table to the stock and it only gets easier.

If given the chance, I would take a shot at any distance and repeat until one of us was dropped.

Lone yes I was. It was a basic issue M16A2. No accuracy work or special loads and with a basic sling, not even a 1907. I never said the front post was smaller than the man sized target. That's where the practice comes in ;) It was larger but you get a good sight picture, hold at mid torso and squeeze. Hits everytime.

All things considered, you guys are just way too nice. I don't want that SOB to go quickly.

Better to hamstring him, maybe chop off his right hand so he can do everything left-handed, and then throw him in a hog-pen. Build a campfire upwind, so he can smell the bacon frying. Put some Ted Nugent on the stereo. Clothing? What clothing?

(I figured that as long as we're getting way away from the purpose of this forum, I'd go ahead and do a serious attack. Don't expect this mess to be around too long, though. :D )

Personally, I voted for 300-400 yards because I want to pop his head off his shoulders. Since I can shoot 4" groups at those distances I figured that would give me the best chance.

But I also like the idea of the whole carotid artery slicing thing. Maybe coat the blade with a little bacon grease and let him know that while you're cutting. :D

OK boys,
Time to belly up to the bar.
See attached target.

As a friend of mine says, "Aim high boys, they're ridin' camels!"

The longest shot I ever made was maybe 425 yards so I put in 300-400. Wind was mild that day at the target (a buck antelope) was walking. Weapon was a savage 116 in 30-06 with a handloaded sierra gameking 165gr sbt. I've seen friends of mine easily outdistance my longest shots.

You guys who got all that 'army training' never cease to amaze me. I know its possible to use open sights at that range, but I never learned how.

Here's the real question.. at 400 yards could you be sure it was him?

Dr. Me, that's what you got the binos for. :)
Just to make sure although anyone with him is a fair target as well.

Uh, I have been away for a day or two, but make no mistake -- my answer was NOT SERIOUS. Then again, neither is the question, IMHO. It's all revenge fantasy, not based on actual likelihood, shooting ability, or intestinal fortitude. So there you go.

Of course it's all for fun and BS LBC. None of us would ever have the chance to even think about doing it for real and as you said it's just revenge fantasy. This guy was a major player in an attack that killed over 6000 Americans and alot in my profession so I think it's kind of healthy to get some aggressions out this way.

'Nuff. If somebody wants to re-start another thread over in General, okay. This has gotten totally non-rifle for way too long. :)
