In the sense that they have a Constitutionally mandated duty to defend our borders, yes.

Be interesting to see the Russian response to their recent attacks. Mr. Putin seems to have a different idea about who the enemies are;

They help, reasoning that Russia still remains one of the world’s major nuclear powers, and as such still represents a threat to them. And so they reason that this threat should be removed..... Even if we had no standing army, I wouldn't be too concerned about anybody invading.

In fact, in some ways I'd be less concerned.
 
Well, there has been an invasion taking place for many years now. Thousands walking across our borders daily. This while for several years our gov has been telling us a well-funded and organized organization is behind the demolition of two tall buildings, damaging another, and is trying to "detroy us". Seems to me that if all have told us is true, they certainly have a responsibilty to act and defend our borders.

So then ya have to ask yourself, why isn't it being done? I think there's many reasons...none of which are good.
 
I would like to see....

The US adopt a border policy much like the one I employ here at home.
Ring the front doorbell, introduce yourself, and, at my invitation, enter.

OR

Sneak in the back door and get shot.
