Police trade-in Sig 229 .40 cals: some were Not carried?

Our local PD policy is to issue all officers a Glock. Officers are allowed to carry several other approved handguns on-duty, assuming they purchase the weapon and qualify with it. It is possible that some officers never fired their issued weapon, but it is not very common (a few guys with small children opt for something with an external safety, and some of the old-timers will never carry anything besides a 1911).

Being only a Makarov (9x18 or .380 commerical Russ. Mak.) guy until my Very first two, actual self-defense/tactical classes last month, I have no bias for or against Glocks.

The class instructor sold me his extra CZ PO1::). Then I rented Sig 229s in both .40 and 9mm.:) I don't prefer one over the other, other than more time spent on the 229's DA trigger.

Now, with both the CZ and .40 cal. Sig 229, there is plenty to learn. Shot placement is always said to be the top priority, naturally once a target Can be identified in a (possibly) crowded place.

My Sig was owned as a personal gun by an LEO in the Memphis area etc. Just asked the store about it.
This might explain why it's in DA/SA:).
