Police - protect and serve??

They protect and serve

The elite and powerful. There are a lot of good ones out there, but they have families and pensions. Like one told me the other day, he's just counting the days till he gets out.

I don't think the cops can protect all of us since for every 300 of us there is only 1 cop in America (or less). They are most likely not gonna be there when you need them.:(

Optical Serenity feels

It isn't about being self righteous, it is about believing in what I do, and who I am. The only people I've ever come across who are so ignorant that they would say what you said, are people who have had numerous run ins with the law. And of course, they did nothing wrong.

In reference to this thread, we do go out and protect and serve...Unfortunately, we are not enough. I mean, we need more officers, more cars, more equipment, more citizens armed, more citizens who have went to a citizen's police academy...

I have a clean rap sheet. Not even a traffic ticket in many years. The few times I did get pulled over, I was guilty as sin of the infraction.
I suspected that you were one of them. Always stick together, right?
...and ignorant to say what I did? Another example of your bias, that anyone that does not agree that you are some sort of hero is 'ignorant'. Right.

I've seen it work well, and I'm glad to see many departments adopting citizen's academies. Society can really benefit from LEOs and citizens who are on the same page on how to respond to threats. Coordination is a very important factor.

I might go along with this, but I'd first have to see a list of "threats" that my neighbors would be asked to "respond to".

I don't hate the police, but I don't expect the law to protect me either. Any contact with the forces of the government is to be avoided- their job is to keep the prosecutor's office in busy work. For protection is will dial 9mm, not 911.

and they don't 'serve' much either. Most local police departments are now nothing more than a revenue producing branch of government. Gotta write those traffic tickets, ya know.

I see nothing in the posts that indicates any of the responding LEOs think they are heros. If you can find something addressed to you that demonstrates that, please show it. Otherwise, you just personified the "ignorance" that you deride.

You expect everyone to understand your position, but offer nothing of any substance. Would you care to offer some proof of your statement? I dealt with LEOs for 35 years while I was in Fire/EMS. I saw good ones, and bad ones, but I can honestly say that I never saw one that was interested in generating revenue. I had them help me during chaotic times, and I carried many of them to the hospital, or the landing pad, in those years.

I would expect that you have something of quality to back up your statements. If not, then perhaps you can explain, rationally, why your every post involving LEOs appears to be only to attack them.

It's all about legal liability

There are many examples throughout government. Can you imagine how many claims would be lodged if it were otherwise? Every court would be backed up for years and the lawyers would have a field day. Just look what happens when they do manage to get a claim up against the government.
