Pocket Semi Recommendations

Hey Guys. I've been otherwise focused for the last couple years. I have several semis, but my main two carries are a Kahr PM9, which works great for slacks and Dockers, and an LCP for jeans and shorts.

Is there anything new I should be thinking about? I have the itch to buy a new EDC.

What do you think?

Check out the Ruger LC9s Pro. 9mm, small but easy to shoot. Super nice trigger and accurate as all get out.

I'm normally a revolver guy, bought this gun so I could have a small 9mm for students in m CCW classes to try and fell in love with it.

Having said that, before you buy I recommend trying as many as possible to see what fits you. I just suggest that the LC9s Pro be one you should try.

KelTec PF-9 works for pocket carry for me. Over 1000 trouble free rounds of ball and HP . I like for carry better than my Kahr CW-9

I like to carry my LCR in cargo shorts. I like my LC9, but consider it to be too large for pocket carry. IMHO, it will be difficult to beat your LCP for that job.

I love my P238 but would like to try out the LCP 2. Not that I'd buy it but it looks cool.

Yeah, I've just been reading about the new LCPs. Supposed to have a better trigger and better sights. I'll definitely have to give it a look.

I tried one of the original LC9 when they first came out. Didn't love it, but I understand the newer striker fired version is a lot better. I'll give it a look.

I have a S&W 336 in my pocket right now, loaded with shotshells. Been working in the yard, and I live on the lake. I like revolvers a lot, but prefer semis for EDC. Thanks, though, for the input.

Need to monitor. I've done a bit of analysis, and am leaning towards the S&W Shield, but trying hard to be objective.

If it truly is going in a pocket, holster or not.....I think a manual safety is in order.

PM-9/CM-9 great carry. I also carry CM-40. Check out Kahr CT-380 or CW-380.
I carry the Kahr 380's some and find them better for me than the LCP, your mileage may vary

The new improved Beretta Pico is well worth looking at. Very thin profile less than .75", has a DAO hammer, good sights, stainless slide, shots soft and is light weight. Very simple and easy takedown and changeable frames should you want a laser or some color. Price is good too.

The shield is a nice weapon but I refer the XDS in 45. I pocket carry often. They also make it in a 9mm as well. The only down side to the 45 is magazine weight but that can be helped a little by shooting 180-200 grn instead of the 230 grn ammo.

Beretta Pico 380 ACP

What about the Beretta Pico 380 acp?
I ordered it already.
It is an modular gun so you can order a spare Frame (as I did).

Tailor your reloads&cast to the gun and it should run just flawless.

A nice disguised cellphone case/Holster and you are good to go.

Once I have the gun I probably will get an carry Permit which is here in Southamerica freaking expensive (about 600 US$ and valid for 3 years I guess).

Pocket carry is my preference for EDC, so I am accumulating small guns too. I have the Khar CM9 in a thin kydex holster & a couple of Kel Tec P3AT's (one 1st gen, one 2nd gen) as my two (3?) favorites. I'm getting an original LCP (ordered & shipping soon) to add to the rotation; it will likely be a gift to a family member when they get their carry permit.

For variety, I also have the Remington RM380 & really like it. It's just slightly larger than the P3AT (& therefore the LCP) but is really smooth in feel & function. Being all metal, it's slightly heavier too, but that's part of its quality feel.

I recently got a SIG P238, & - wow - what a sweet little gun. If she wants it, it's for my wife so it hasn't gone into my pockets yet. It is about the size of the CM9. Easy to rack (my wife likes that), kinda heavy trigger but very crisp SA, & the manual of arms similar to a 1911.

I got a Glock 42 for my wife to try also, & - for me - it's just over the size I like for pocket carry. It shoots like a ... well, like a Glock. Nice gun.

While we're listing, I have a Walter PPK/S that's just fun. Heavy for pocket carry, but just neat cause of the history & image of the design. Heavy DA, ok SA, accurate but snappy w the blowback design.

I've got a few .32acp's & .25acp's, too, but they're really just range guns & novelties although they occasionally get carried. Be careful, small guns can be another form of the general firearms addiction.

Recently bought a Kahr P380. I'm at about 100 rounds and it is still a jam-o-matic. Everybody says it will be trouble free after a 200 round break-in, but I'm not buying that.

Because I am not willing to pawn this piece of crap off on someone else, I'll keep breaking it in, then sell it, no doubt at a loss. It was >$800 out the door with DROS, taxes, etc.

Will pickup a Sig P238 Friday (after the CA 10 day wait). Did a lot more research on this gun, even dry fired it. Hope it's everything I expect.

I have allways a Feeling "break in periods" for guns are an cheap excuse for non working guns right out of factory.

Guns should be break in free These days as "break in's" Sound like the Trial en error period of the gun is shoved to the customer instead the factory bringing out an mature ready for market product. It seems "break in" is in reality the test period the factory does not do to cut cost bringing on the marked an poorly developed gun (in order to shorten the "place to market" time which means more margins).

The SD9VE had a "break in" period of 1 Magazine. After that it never wrist limbed nor failed with all kinds of ammo.
