it's true, the guns that he is targeting for a complete ban are things like glock 26, 27, etc, keltecs, ANYTHING WITH A LENGTH LESS THAN 7.5 INCHES!
do you know the length of your handguns? 7.5 inches being the case, it would also ban most compacts, including glock 19, 23, sigs, etc.

it's just another small step for them, on the road to a complete ban of firearms....

anyway, if you disagree with this, please start talking to other firearm owners (both handgun and long arms - read hunters - because those evil sniper rifles will be next!) and try to get them to write or call their representatives in government. things like this need to be stop, and we need to get those people that think bills like this don't concern them to become active in protesting these kinds of actions. remind them that, just because, if a bill doesn't affect their rights to a certain class of firearms now, surely one soon will.

I bet, by the end of the year they will ban supersoakers too.

When I saw this on TV, I didn't realize they were trying to ban it all together, I thought it was just here in Chicago. :confused: Personally I like them little guns, saw a few at a gunshow awhile back and have it on my 'list'. AR's are next, I know it, and I will NOT be a happy camper when that happens. I've got to start saving $$ so I can get these while I can. :(

OTOH...They are this <> close to busting George Ryan and his little license scam :D One almost down, alot more to go.
 
Perhaps he meant an 18 round, standard capacity magazine has 3 times the fire power of a 6-shot revolver. (?)
 
Ok just did the math. Of the 18729 gun siezed in Chicago, 503 were these so called "Pocket Rockets." That comes to a whole screaming 2.6% of the guns taken yes folks 2.6%. I guess why is Blago here going after 2.6% of the firearms. Why not the other 97.4% of firearms? They must have been assault rifles, since last I heard THOSE were the guns of choice by bangers.And how the hell does the distingushed Representative from Chicago KNOW that "Pocket Rockets" are the "Weapon of Choice?". Now this is interesting. My background is in the trucking business and to folks like me "Pocket Rockets" are those little pills that make you drive 90 mph for four days straight without stopping.
Never heard the phrase used to describe a firearm. I wonder if this could be another one of those little word association games the antis like to play.
Pocket Rockets = drugs = guns = bad.

How do they define length? A Glock 17's slide length is 7.32" -- now I know the hump of the grip adds some length, but what if they go by slide length?

A Glock 17 -- a POCKET rocket. The stupidity of the antis makes my head swim.

He doesn't mention that because he would be putting his foot in his mouth. The other 97.4% (well here in Chicago anyway) are HANDGUNS which have been banned already. To be honest, I can't recall but ONE shooting that the criminal/banger used a rifle. Its always handguns. They always got their windows open with the Eminem music jamming, the cops would see the rifles. The handguns they can stick in their baggy pants no problem. :D

Has anyone else noticed, that since gangs have increased and became more popular due to their new violent demeanors, it seems crime rates went skyrocketing, and now everything has turned into 'guns did this , guns did that'. My dad was in a 'gang' when he was young, he told me they may have had a gun, but never used it, it was mostly knives. I was in a 'gang' in HS, didn't have guns, just knives. No one went around killing anyone, it was mostly fist fights if that. I seriously blame most of these new gun laws on gangs. Why doesn't anyone try and work on that problem? :rolleyes: God forbid anyone should have some common sense.

Gaston Glock invented the term "pocket rocket" to describe his down sized Glocks intended for concealed carry. ( he should have known better!) It has become a general term for small handguns chambered forpocket pistols chambered for rounds more powerful than the usual .32 or .380 such as the 9mm, 40 S&W, .45acp. The antis hope to make it into a phrase to frighten people. The Violence Policy Centr has a statement about this on their web site.
