Pocket Revolvers

H&R has not made a pocket revolver in many decades. The S&W/I.J./H&R, etc. top breaks are pretty fragile guns. .38 S&W is too big in diameter. .32 S&W is not powerful enough. A .38 special revolver can not be made small enough.
The .32 acp is perfect for a small, modern pocket revolver.

As someone said....thunderwear. That way if someone feels "something" during the hug, they will just think you are "real" happy to see them:eek:

This colum has many good ideas!
For your best bet, an old H&R .22 in good shape with a short barrel should fill your bill!
Small yet capable of handling hit .22 short H/P's or even some L/R cartriges, the little revolvers might be enough?
Tarus is really trying to give what the public wants.
As was stated. perhaps a customised Ruger Bearcat ( like the new short barreled gun just out) might be what you want.
A Bearcat has plenty of extra metal to work with so a competent gunsmith could bring the qualities out!
I sometimes carry a H&R Model 1906 7 shot .22 It's apparentlly chambered for the .22 long, but I prefer to shoot modern HV Short HP's and for pure fun shooting, I shoot Remington CB Caps.
The .22 L/R is anemic by todays combat standards but it's also been used sucessfully over the years very effectivelly!
Heck there's even the tiny NAAarms mini revolvers...
With thought and some good searching, you can probablly find a workable platform for your Dream Gun1 Carefull thought and planning could bring out a perfect classical design and make you the hit of any BB-Q!
Carefully plan it out, search for a good one, and have it built into what you want unless you have the shop and skills to do it. Good luck,
ZVP

Didn't read all the answers so this may have already been mentioned.
Taurus is building a five shot DA revolver in. 380ACP.
The cylinder and frame are properly shortened for the cartridge making for a very small revolver.
It also loads with full moon clips making for fast reloads.
I'd imagine with hot ammo it would be as effective as a much larger. 38SPL J frame.

Coming from an Italian Family I know all about hugs and kiss's. I carry a LCR357 in the Apendix position. The J Frame should work well there because of the smaller grip. I carry the J Frame in my pocket. With all the junk people carry on their belts, I think you could get by with a J Frame AIWB.

I have carried a S&W J frame in my front pocket for years. It probably would be a tight fit in designer pants, but plenty of room in the ones that I buy. No one seems to notice that I have a .357 in my front pocket. At least no one has said anything. I have also have a NAA mini revolver, which has proven to be very reliable, and will fit in about any pocket.

I think the LCR is a good choice for pocket carry. If you get a chance to play with one, notice the "bare bones" approach and all the synthetic material. This could be wishful thinking but I feel like that makes it a better choice for the poor hospitality of full-day pocket carry. It is also well-designed and shoots surprisingly well for its size and weight (at least with .38 special). Of course, those fat grips play a role in making it so good. They can facilitate smooth draw from a pocket holster but they can also print more than some people like. You can always try it out with different pants and if it gives you any trouble, switch the grips. Crimson Trace makes a laser grip that might be lower-profile. Some models come with them. Here are some other options:

S&W 642 15oz 38 +P

I have a few more snubbie pocket carry options but these two are the most carry-able

This little & thin Taurus TCP is easiest to pocket carry...but she is best OWB weak side "Texas reload"

My wife carries an S&W 637, J frame with a hammer. I had my doubts, but she was in love with it and had to have it.. I shot it and was actually very impressed with the accuracy and shootability, for a titianium framed 1 7/8" barrel it grouped very well at about 10 yards. Haven't tried it out any farther away.

H&R guns are nothing like a Jennings. They were actually very good, utilitarian guns. I actually found a very nice H&R topbreak in .32 S&W today! I may just have to have it.

while nut huggers are out, so are any other type of pants that fit you. you have to get loose fit semi baggie pants in order to have pockets big enough to comfortable carry a revolver in them. however, if your gut is bigger than your inseam you will find the pants are far more generously cut; for instance if your waist is a 38 and your inseam is less.....

this wont help the revolver budge in your pocket when you sit down though.

You guys really recommending an H&R? That is like recommending a Jennings POS!!

LOL! H&R's are not in the same class as Jennings or the like. If I had to put them in a class, I'd probably place them with 2nd tier mfrs, like Taurus & Armscor.

For what it's worth, I'm about 5'8". I wear "regular cut" Wranglers 34x30. I didn't know you all were such fashionistas, lol.

OP you might want to try this:

It's a Colt 1849 Pocket revolver in .31 caliber. While it might appear somewhat long, it is so svelte and slim that it would hide wonderfully in an ankly holster or IWB. Granted, you won't be doing any quick reloading with it, but it's an option for sure. These are great old guns and they work just fine for personal defense just the same as they did 150 years ago.

It seems to me that if you sit for long periods of the day and you're worried about "huggers" feeling a gun on you, perhaps pocket carry isn't the best method. Have you considered an ankle holster? In my experience, a gun is much easier to draw from an ankle holster than a pants pocket if you're sitting in a chair and your family members would have to hug you in an extremely unusual manner to feel a gun on your ankle.

From personal experience. . .

A KT P32 or P3AT; Ruger LCP; Seecamp; NAA Guardian; H&R Victor; H&R Young America; NAA Mini 22LR/MAG

. . . will fit in a pocket holster and not show. I'm a fairly think guy at 5'10" & 165lb with a 32" waist. Except for the Seecamp, I've back pocket carried and sometimes front pocket carried all of the above. As for "huggers" feeling "something" - only if they grab my butt! :D

I've seen .32 short conversion cylinders for the1863 pocket Remington. If you handload, you could load it up to near .32 acp levels. I would think that a modern steel frame replica and conversion cylinder would handle the pressure of a .32 acp, but I haven't seen one.
