Pocket Holsters for J Frames

JaySouth - I have over three years experience with a 442 and a Kramer front pocket horsehide holster. No wear on the 442 and the holster still looks new. I carry the 442 in my right front pocket at least three days a week.

I used to carry a 1980's Model 38 in a Kramer pocket holster. The Kramer fit this gun very well and was comfortable to use. However, the same holster did not fit the 342PD I now carry (I don't know if a newer Kramer holster would fit differently).

My Uncle Mike's and Galco pocket holsters work fine with the 342PD. I usually opt for the Uncle Mike's because of its minimal weight and bulk.

BTW, my Model 38 had a nickel finish that the Kramer holster eventually tarnished, although I wiped the finish regularly with a silcone cloth and did not store the gun in the leather.

Over the years, when it comes to firearms and gear for same, I have not been what you call cheap (enter wife as state's witness number one:) ). And I can really be extravagant when it comes to buying holsters. So saving money wasn't the biggest reason for opting for an Uncle Mike's pocket holster to carry my 642. It does really work quite well. And, for once, I saved some money to boot.

Ditto...spent tons on Alessi and Delfatti gear....and I'll go one step further...for my 442 I use an Uncle Mike's #36 IWB with the clip removed....thin as they come, even with the clip, and works great in the pocket...and if you dont cut the clip off it can do double duty as an IWB...around 9 bucks on line.
