pocket gun

I have pocket carried a Ruger LCP For several years. I practice with it quite often as well. Probably approaching 1000 100% trouble free rounds. It is easily concealed in any pocket.
I also have a Kahr CM9 that has been as reliable, and is chambered in 9MM as you mentioned you prefer. While not quite as concealable as the LCP, it could be pocket carried easily in the right pant.

My wife and I went to our LGS to look at an LCP for her, and I wound up going home for more cash so she could get a Sig P238.

It is a bit heavier than the more common polymer .380s, but it shoots very nicely, good accuracy, comes with excellent night sights standard, and feels solid and comfortable in the hand. You have to be comfortable with carrying SA cocked and locked, but the safety clicks on and off quite decisively.

We have not regretted the investment for a moment; to the contrary, I would pick up another if I see a good deal on one, and I am not usually one for having duplicate handguns.

I retired my P3-AT and now carry the Sig P-238. Incredible pocket gun.

I carry the KT P3AT, although I acknowledge the Kel Tec guns need thorough testing break in to verify reliability. Mine is reliable and I do regular cleaning and regular shooting with it to rotate ammo and for my peace of mind that it's working. It may be that all these pocket guns need a little more attention than full sized pistols since they are pushing the functional limits of weight and dimensions.

I haven't shot one, but I am considering the Khar PM9/CM9. They are just a little larger but are 9mm. Khar has a better reputation than my Kel Tec, but there are online reports of their issues as well.

No reason to get a 380 anymore.

Sig 938, Kimber Solo, G43, Kahr, Walther PPS, something in 9mm; lots of choices these days. The .380 is obsolete.

IMO .380 is alive and well...for now anyway. I have a Sig938, Kahr CM9 and neither of them will pocket carry like one of the .380 mouseguns. The .380's fill a niche.

we bought the glock 43 but neither my wif e nor I liked it. too small for our hands. too hard to control. BUT they made us appreciate our glock 19s much more after their use--LOL.

we bought 2 pocket/summer carry guns this year after unloading those glocks

the walther CCP is great..I love it. Harder to clean than most but you get used to it. THE most accurate carry gun we own.

we also bought S+W shields. use remora holsters for either--they fit the same holster and again it is a very accurate gun

I just moved from a P3AT to a PF9. Had the P3AT for 12 years and the P32 before that. With the smaller 9mms, I made the move up. The PF9 is a much better option for me than the P3AT.

The DoubleTap derringers might be worth consideration if you want to stick with 9mm.

The .380 is obsolete.

I can't agree with this. It is certainly less powerful than 9mm, but it has a legitimate place in the world of CC. Sure, I could get a shield and try to pocket carry with it, but a TCP, LCP, etc. is just plain lighter, and it fits into a pocket easier, especially for those of us who prefer regular fit jeans to relaxed fit or cargo/ BDU style pants.

Of course, weight is also an issue, especially when wearing shorts. If a 19 oz Shield is superior to a 22-23oz compact double stack, than doesn't it stand to reason that a 10-12oz .380 is even better still, when it comes to pocket carry?

"The .380 is obsolete."
This is a ridiculous statement. You can never make a 9mm as small as you can make a .380-it's simple physics. A 9mm has more recoil than a .380. Some people PREFER the .380.
It's not just about "the most powerful cartridge in the smallest gun." The "obsolete" comment shows the single (and simple)-mindedness of the "bigger is better" crowd.

I have a Taurus TCP, it fits in my pocket nicely. My friend has a Shield 9, it doesn't fit in my pocket. Maybe a complete wardrobe change would help; but I have wore jeans daily for about 58 years now. :)

NONE are as small, light, and easy to conceal in all circumstances as the 380 mouse guns. Even my Kahr CM9 is still more noticable, and harder to draw from a lot of pockets. 380 acp is still the King of pocket pistols.
With modern ammunition like Speer Gold Dot the 380 acp is perfectly adequate for civilian self defense.
